[edit] History

The airline was originally founded in 1984 by John Block a Dutch aviation pioneer who previously had been involved in Martinair and Transavia Airlines. In November 1999 the airline ran into financial difficulties and ceased operations. A new group of investors subsequently took over and relaunched operations in early 2000. Air Holland ceased operations and was declared bankrupt on 25 March 2004. Its activities were taken up by Holland Exel, which itself ceased operations in 2005.
