Air Force Instructions (AFIs) are policies, directives, and guidelines for use by active duty, guard, and reserve members of the United States Air Force as well as associated civilians.
Some examples of an Air Force Instruction is AFI 36-2903 Dress and Appearance of Air Force Personnel which outlines Air Force uniform wear and grooming standards; and AFI 36-3003 Military Leave Program which explains leave for U.S. Air Force members; and AFI 10-248 Fitness Program which explains the Air Force Fitness program and describes how it is to be implemented.
Air Force members are encouraged to know, understand, and implement the AFIs, especially those which apply to their duties and responsibilities.
