Ailinginae

Ailinginae is an island and municipality of the Marshall Islands, in the Ralik Chain. The closest landmass to Ailinginae is Rongelap Atoll, about 10 miles of ocean apart.

Ailinginae is a 'hollowed out' island consisting of a large central lagoon. The landscape is low-lying with only the top few meters above sea level. The total width of Ailinginae is 27 km (17 mi) and the breadth is 9 km (6 mi). The entire island is surrounded by reef. The total land area of all 25 islets making up Ailinginae Atoll is 2.8 km² (1.08 mi²).

The two entrances into the lagoon are 'Mogiri Pass' and 'Eniibukku Pass'. These are 0.9 and 0.3 miles (1.5 and 0.5 km) wide respectively.

The average temperature of these islands is about 27 °C during daytime and slightly warmer during night-time due to cold weather associated with rain showers. The rainy season here is from September through November.

The currency used is the U.S. dollar, the type of mains electricity is 110 V 60 Hz, a passport is needed to visit, but no visa is necessary. It is GMT +12, and you can fly there from Continental Air Micronesia and Aloha Airlines.
