Aikido Schools of Ueshiba

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aikido Schools of Ueshiba is an aikido organization founded by Mitsugi Saotome upon moving from Japan to the United States in 1975. ASU's original head dojo was the Aikido Shobukan Dojo in Washington, DC, however the center of gravity has shifted south as Saotome has retired to Myakka City, Florida.

The federation currently includes more than 90 dojo throughout North America. Although not associated with the Aikikai Hombu Dojo initially, official recognition was later established. Heir apparent to Saotome's position as chief instructor is Hiroshi Ikeda of the Boulder Aikikai.
