Talk:Ahmad Reda

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Because this is the English Wikipedia, English-language sources should be used in preference to foreign-language sources, assuming the availability of an English-language source of equal quality, so that readers can easily verify that the source material has been used correctly. References that are provided are unreadable for most of the readership; also the references do not look reliable to me. The article should therefore be removed asap unless reliable English sources can be identified. If this person is so distinguished as the article likes us to believe, then it must be very easy to find the demanded English sources, not?

Let us take an example: it is mentioned that the person was a member of the Arab Academy of Sciences in Damascus. There is a (UNESCO) Arab Academy of Sciences in Beirut, but it was founded in 2001, and Reda died in 1953 (is this date true or is he still alive?). I checked Google and could not find any remark or trace regarding the distinguished Arab Academy of Sciences in Damascus at all, so one might question its existence or importance. I do not have time to check the rest of the article, but according to Wikipedia rules, the burden of the proof lies on the shoulders of the writer of the article. So, cite your English! sources.
