Ahmed Tasnim

Vice Admiral Ahmed Tasnim, Sitaria-e-Jurat(SJ) & Bar. He was the Captain Commander of the PNS Hangor[1] when it sunk the INS Khukri at 2000hrs on 8 December 1971 during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, off the coast of Diu, Gujarat, India.[2] (This was the first submarine kill since World War II, and the only one until a Royal Navy nuclear submarine HMS Conqueror sank an Argentinian cruiser General Belgrano during the Falklands War.) He is also only officer in Pakistan Navy to have been awarded Sitara-e-Jurat (SJ) & Bar. ("Bar" refers to a second award of the same honour.)
