[edit] A request from someone else...?
Does this mean anything to you? RadioKirk (u|t|c) 22:02, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- Not at all; don't know what he/she means by "fully protected". Anthonycfc [T • C] 22:03, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Pound Puppies
As I was planning these past few weeks, I'm going to see about nominating Pound Puppies and the Legend of Big Paw as an FA in a fortnight. Do you agree it's worth that honour so far? --Slgrandson (page - messages - contribs) 22:58, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Maybe try to contact Shamir1 again?
Hi again. It looks like Shamir1 has been active over the last few days. You may want to try to contact him again so we can try to resolve the dispute on the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict. I think his archive bot is going to swallow your message soon. Cheers. — George Saliba [talk] 08:55, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- I've done that; I do find it rather curious that he didn't catch the original message. Anyway, that's him contacted so I suppose we can expect him to post his opinion next time he's on Wikipedia. Yours, Anthonycfc [T • C] 15:12, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
-
- I hope so too. Thanks for following up on this. — George Saliba [talk] 02:16, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- It appears that Shamir1 has again ignored the invite to mediate: he has been active on wikipedia.english since my invitation to mediate, and also since my more direct request. I've now posted a third invite - with a more urgent tone to it - on his talk page; however, I believe that the ignoring of the case shows that he is now indifferent to the article or mediation outcome, and we can therefore assume his agreement with whatever compromise is produced. Having said that, I will wait to see if he again ignores my invite before proceeding with mediation. I hope this remedy is satisfactory to your wishes. Regards, Anthonycfc [T • C] 03:13, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
-
- Hopefully he replies soon. Resolving the issue without his input isn't optimal (as I have little doubt that this topic will come up again, either from him or other editors), but I also feel it's more important for us to move along to other topics, and tackle some of the other problems with this article, rather than just waiting around til he feels ready to discuss. Thanks again for your diligence with this mediation. — George Saliba [talk] 06:36, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Hi
Hi Anthony, thanks for your kind message. I am as fit as a fiddle at the moment; just recovered from a bad cough though... how are things? --Majorly (o rly?) 17:28, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm never really fine :) I've got both OCD and Bipolar disorder to deal with; but enough of my sob stories :P do you think I was quite harsh with my "neutral" vote at Cuchullain's RfA? Anthonycfc [T • C] 17:30, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
-
- Thanks for your opinion; that was the main reason I didn't go with "oppose": he did have AfD edits, and did say he wanted to work at certain understaffed Admin areas, such as Requested Moves. Each to his own. See you around! Anthonycfc [T • C] 17:40, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] My RfA
I'd never hold a grudge over something like that (If I did, I'd really have no business being an admin.) You have a right to your opinion, and the reasons you listed are something to be considered.--Cúchullain t/c 19:24, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hey; that's a relief :). I just wanted to make sure that there was no hard feelings. See you around! Anthonycfc [T • C] 19:25, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Good timing, I was just about to support your RFA. Good luck! Everything's fine btw :-) Cheers, Húsönd 00:11, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- I won't pass comment (thanks, etc..) on the RfA untill it has been closed by a Bureaucrat...I'm striving for neutrality here :P glad to hear your doing well. Anthonycfc [T • C] 00:12, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks for the Barnstar, no hard feelings about the oppose okay :), good luck. ~ Arjun 00:22, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- Of course not! I respect your opinion, and would a hundred times rather you posted an honest Oppose than a false, "smile-and-wave" Support :) brilliant to hear from you, and I hope to see you around! Regards, Anthonycfc [T • C] 00:24, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your message on my talk page. It is a pleasure to meet you. --Anthony5429 06:49, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yes I would vote for this article in a FA nomination; however, that is my personal opinion - whether or not the majority of Wikipedians would vote for it I could not possibly comment. My advice is, if you are going to nominate, step up the expansion of the article; in the lead-up to the nomination, just go full speed ahead: pull out those resources, and nobody can ask any better of you. Let me take this opportunity to say well done - you should be proud of your contributions!
[edit] Spelling
In accordance with your request, I have not edited your talk page; but it contains two spelling mistakes - "querie" and "barnstart". I will leave you to adjust them if you choose. I am sorry about the RfA - I did not vote because by the time I got to the page you had withdrawn. I would have supported, and will in the future, assuming nothing changes.--Anthony.bradbury 11:13, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- Good day; my apologies - I was quite harsh when I posted that. What I mean was, don't edit anybody else's comments - the header is a free-for-all! Anyway, I've done away with that as part of my Reform Plan after my RfA, which has actually suceeded: one of my aims was to achieve invaluable feedback on what the community thinks of me, and this has definitely been accomplished! Your "I'd-support" comment was very much appreciated - thanks a lot!
- If you ever need anything, give me a shout;

[edit] my AMA case
Thanks for taking my case at Wikipedia:Association_of_Members'_Advocates/Requests/February_2007/0-0-0-Destruct-0_2 I see that the case page doesn't actually link to me because of the added '_2' at the end of my user id, but I am indeed the person requesting assistance. [edit] Re. My RfA
I'm sorry about your RFA. It's good to see that you're not feeling discouraged and will continue to improve in order to attain a successful RFA next time. I wish you very good luck! :-) Best regards, Húsönd 02:05, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Plus me :), you are a great user. Just keep working with the advice on your RFA and you will be an admin in no time. Cheers! ~ Arjun 02:06, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your Recent RfA
Sorry about your RfA. I'm particularly pleased to see you come out of it with your list of aims. You've obviously listened to the criticisms voiced in the RfA and intend to take action to answer them. From my "support" vote, it should be obvious that I thought you had already learned from past mistakes and would be a good admin. If I can provide any support, please drop a line on my talk page. --Pigmantalk 02:07, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] RFA is not a simple majority
I happened to notice on your talk page messages to everyone after the RFA. You had this phrase: I felt that although there were more support than oppose votes, the weight of the latter was too great for me to accept the promotion with so many not trusting me with the janitor's trolley. Generally RFA's don't pass unless they gain at least 70% support. In fact just recently User:Ryulong got adminship at ~69% support, and there was a big debate over it. I just thought I should let you know. Your aims sound good, and I hope you learn how to remain calm. Regards —— Eagle101 Need help? 02:47, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mediation Cabal case Category:Kurdistan
Good morning (GMT time); I'd just like to ask what course of action you would like to take as a result of inactivity on behalf of every other editor at the above case. I have been respecting WP:NEHAMFTAY, but that grace period has now expired in my opinion and it is time to press on regardless of presence of other editors.
Awaiting your response,
Anthonycfc [T • C] 02:26, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Good afternoon! Not sure. We can go right ahead and apply Wikipedia:Naming conventions (categories). --Cat out 09:29, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Well? --Cat out 20:59, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Good afternoon (GMT time); I'm not sure if you have seen the notice at the top - I'm currently having connection problems (courtest of BT Group :) and that's why I've not had the oppurtunity to reply to you. For this, my apologies.
I've got no problem with that course of action - my reasoning being, there's been no objection from other parties and, since I'm a neutral party in the dispute, I've got to go along with concensus - in this case, appplying NC (cats). In accordance with this, I'd like to implement one of the following (justification is attached, eg relevant Guidelines):
1. -- Rename all of the existing subcategories in Category:Kurdistan to be titled "Geography of X", etc...
-
- X should refer to a country in accordance with
- X should refer to a country in accordance with
2. -- Delete all of the existing subcategories in Category:Kurdistan.

---I will complete this reply later: the internet is about to self-destruct again :) my apologies to Cat. Anthony; 12:33 14/2/07---
[edit] The Box is Back!
Thank you for my barnstar regarding my userpage - I quite like it too. However, I'm slightly confused about what you mean with pagetop and pagebottom - it sounds cool, but I don't know what it is! As for the test wiki, it's hosted on SilentFlame, which I run, but Where got it running (he had it on his local computer for a while) and now Misza13 maintains it. Hope that answers your question :) —Xyrael / 15:23, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Page top-bottom is were you used to have it run straight to the bottom - outside of the ordinary page top and bottom; should have looked closer - you've not got it any more :-) thanks for the answer; I was just curious as all of the test wikis (eg WikiThink, a new proposal at Meta) are hosted on free wiki providers that, even when upgraded, are frankly rubbish! Regards, Anthonycfc [T • C] 15:48, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

- PS - I hate "Re:-", that's why I've removed it :P
-
-
- Ah, I think I see what you mean. It doesn't actually do that anymore, but rather just sits inside the usual wrapper - the problem was that things such as diff information weren't visible. I'm using this on my start page, though. —Xyrael / 13:25, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

- Yes, that's the style. I've got a "start" page as well (The Morning Jog) but obviously it's not got such elaborate WikiFormat as yours
:)
I noticed the Mediation Committee task list there; on that topic, how do you think I'm doing at my case? Any suggestions, advice and/or comments? (Or even, if any, praise :) Awaiting your reply, Anthonycfc [T • C] 18:29, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Testcfc
Can you please make an edit, logged into this [the main account], on User:Testcfc basically saying "I hereby note that this is a sockpuppet of me, Anthony cfc"? Daniel.Bryant 21:45, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Done. I actually had that at the back of my mind, but I've had other things on my mind. To view the edit, click here. By the way, I know you'll think the status+date header at the top looks familiar...I've attributed you at their subpages, for the record. Nice to hear from you! [edit] Userpage
Thank you for your offer, but I fiddle with my userpage all the time anyway. At the moment I am somewhat handicapped with a fractured wrist, forcing me to type rather inexpertly with my non-dominant hand. Nevertheless, I am happy to look after my own page. I hope that you will re-apply for admin status in a couple of months; as I said, unless you do anything naughty in the meantime I will support you.--Anthony.bradbury 22:53, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sorry I'm tardy
I just wanted to give you a word of encouragement--kudos really. Between you and The Transhumanist, that WP:WC page is looking pretty good. Somewhere 'bout three days ago, I've a unfinished post in the cache I may be able to eventually get back to finishing, to acknowledge that on that talk. I've been buried, alas. One interuption and fire to pee on after another. If you need a task worthy of your skills, I've a template that needs a HTML savvy coder that will be a worthwhile, valuable and useful challange. If you're up for that, it would end up on all language wiki's someday if successful. If not, just keep up the good work. Best regards. // FrankB 05:26, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- Just backing back through via The Transhumanist's page... FYI, I activated the stubbed in shortcut to the talk WT:WC, but now see 'Trans' has changed the shortcut to something an old fart like me will have trouble remembering.<g> I'm counting on you to link it to WP:Wc!!! T'was truly good work... you just messed with my concept on the later in the first go. Think I liked it better with a one letter variation... Oh, WP:WELCOM... WP:WELCOM,... WP:WELCOM ... WP:WELCOM... maybe now? <g> Easier to get to the correct page from the wrong url when and if you misremember. Up to you guys though. Jes' remember this-- getting old sucks... I don't recommend it! <G>
I see coming back in, you had a RFA, then withdrew it... So sorry to hear that. I imagine you're young enough to be my son, and the best I can say is disappointment is part of life, and if it's meant to be, prepare for it and it will present again as an opportunity again someday. "Chance favors the prepared mind"-- Pasteur, I think. No matter-- quite true. Best of wishes, and good luck. // FrankB 06:13, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

- My gathering of events is that the oppurtunity to help out with that HTML oppurtunity has passed...a shame - I'd have been over the moon to take it
:)
well, thanks so much for your kind words - I am quite proud of WP:WC..not to boast :P well, please do get in contact as soon as possible - as always, it's a pleasure. On another note, "Old enough to be my son" - well it depends how old you are ^_^ I think Wikipedia is pretty much the most un-age-concious place there is (if that's a word!) and I think it should stay that way; just my two pence. Just to confirm, the HTML oppurtunity has passed..?

[edit] Are you a programmer?
Just curious, cuz I'm about to delve into the world of wikibots, and I thought you might find this interesting. I've placed a preliminary proposal for a bot on Wikipedia talk:Welcoming committee. The Transhumanist 17:07, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
- Good evening (GMT time); hope you're well. That sounds great, and I wish you all the best. Unfortunately, although I was previously an experienced programmer, I gave up that field of Computing and ICT, and I've no intention of returning - it's caused me too much stress :) my apologies - if there is any other way I can help you out, please immediately let me know!

[edit] You were the true artist on the WP:WC project...
In all fairness, you did a lot more work on the welcome message than I did - you created a rewrite and new page layout from scratch! I was stunned that it was reverted, and I just couldn't let all that creative energy go to waste! I'm glad I could help smooth out the disagreement to the satisfaction of all concerned. But I digress. Back to the issue at hand...
The Graphic Designer's Barnstar | ||
For going above and beyond the call of duty, for taking the initiative and boldly revamping a key page badly in need of attention, starting over from scratch and rebuilding the Welcoming committee's newcomer greetings page from the ground up in an elegant graphics style, Anthony is hereby awarded this barnstar for his wikipage artistry. The Transhumanist 18:47, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

- I'm both shocked and honoured! I'd like to thank my Mother...no only joking :P in all seriousness, however, I am very pleased that my contributions - although small on the grand scheme of things - are appreciated nonetheless. Thank you! Anthonycfc [T • C] 20:56, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- The overhaul of the WC has only just begun. There's lots left to do. The WC's template collection for instance has grown stale and could sure use a couple or more new greetings, written and designed totally from scratch. Interested? The Transhumanist 23:54, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

- Does a monkey like bananas? Of course I'm interested :) I'm afraid I'll have to leave it until Tuesday, and even then that's being hopeful. Otherwise, count me in! Anthonycfc [T • C] 20:58, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

- Anthony, why don't you adopt him? Gazz4spurs, I highly recommend Anthony as a wikimentor. The Transhumanist 16:59, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hey Gazz4supurs; firstly, did you know about a useful little feature on Wikipedia concerning signatures: at the end of every talk page message you post (like this one) just put 4 tildes (~) like so: ~~~~; this will automatically produce a signature with time and date! Read this page for more.
-
- Okay - adoption. I'd be honoured to adopt you! I've also adopted User:Db1944 and User:Sooner Dave (inactive) and I'd love one more! Therefore, I'd like to now officially request it: Would you give me the honour of adopting you?

[edit] Inactivity ( :) )
Hey, hey.. yeah, I've been rather busy IRL, unfortunately, what with the first week of university and all. I haven't been able to do much at Wikipedia of later -- although I've been blogging a bit, in my free time -- but I've been trying to get back in the habit. In other news, COMP rocks, best class ever :D
How's your wikibreak been going? Or, more accurately, how has Simple been going? :) -- Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 04:28, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hey; glad to hear you're liking Uni! I prefer not to disclose my age, so I won't say anymore about my experiences there :) simple's great - the small community is much more closely knit, and the low volume of vandalism means you can concentrate a lot more on article writing, which can be neglected a bit too often here :P however, since it's smaller, things do move much slower - frustratingly slow, actually, for somebody in GMT - so I'm now sort of balanced between them, as well as spells at Meta and Commons.
- Well, great to hear from you! Enjoy Uni, and forgive me for interuppting your studies...which, being a Uni student, I'm sure you're burrowed deep into :P
- Kind regards,

[edit] User talk:Audacity#What's the hold-up?
Good afternoon (GMT time); regarding the above post, everything's fine! Sorry about my recent inactivity - you might have noticed the notice at my talk page, but here goes: basically, I'm a bit out of the editing mood right now, and I've ran out of energy, so I've taken a short break for 1-2 days to try to revive myself. I love Wikipedia with a passion, but it does sap my energy at times.
When I return, I hope to work on the WC pages, including that Welcome Message adapted for vandals; until then, see you soon!
Kind regards,
Anthonycfc [T • C] 18:07, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- The question was directed to Audacity, not you. I just happened to spot you while I was there and said "hi". By the way, when you return, please consider editing the articles listed at User:The Transhumanist/Help me. Of all the articles on Wikipedia, I believe those are the highest priority at the moment. The Transhumanist 18:31, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
-
- Good evening (GMT time); I knew that the original question was directed to Audacity, but I was simply answering your question "hey anthony, how are you". The link to User talk:Audacity#What's the hold-up? was simply provided so you could quickly navigate to the original question if required.
-
- With regards to the priority articles - don't worry, I hope to pay them attention quite soon; I think I might take Suicide - that's a good point that's been raised regarding the fact the article doesn't really give any readers contemplating Suicide encouraging thoughts, or otherwise attempt to guide them away from taking their lives.
-
- Hopefully this clears things up!

- Kind regards,

What's your AWB and VP status? Once I'm done with the "help me" project and the new lesson for the VC, I'll be exploring how to best use those tools for contacting new users for the WC. If you no longer have access to those, please request access again - if you lost access for some reason, it may take an apology or two.
One other tool I will be using is the Firefox extension called "Linky". If you don't have Firefox or Linky, please download them. If you don't know how to find them, there are links to them on my tools page. The Transhumanist 18:38, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- Good evening (GMT time); I've got full access to both AWB and VP, although I don't use them because I prefer to edit in a more supervised manner (it's too easy to post a bad edit) than AWB, and I prefer to manually revert vandalism rather than use VP - see my Vandalism Policy for full details.
- As for FireFox - I've been using it for around a year now...the thought of using IE disgusts me :) not heard of linky, but I'll be sure to get it downloaded soon.
- Hope this is to your liking!
- Kind regards,

[edit] Hey
Thanks for the thoughts. I wish you all the best with your mother as well. It's kind of a frightening experience, so I guess we can hope that we grow stronger because of it.
All the best! – riana_dzasta 23:45, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- No problem - great to hear from you. Anthonycfc [T • C] 00:12, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] VP Moderator
Hi, I became a VP moderator my simple having a chat on the VP IRC channel (WP:IRC), you will have to ask User:AmiDaniel for access and other moderators will assist you. I found it rather complicated myself but you the other moderators have patience ;). As long as you have a good track record (no blocks/3rrs etc) I can't see why they won't make you a moderator. Sorry for late reply, to avoid such late replies in future you may want to ask other active moderators instead. --Andeh 17:32, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

- I've removed a comment here, since this was originally a private conversation. In addition, my previous discussions with user in question have ended poorly so I do not wish to converse with him any further on controversial matters at this time. Anthonycfc [T • C] 22:07, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Peter; thanks for your contributions. I think I will continue this discussion via email, so as for it to remain private. Thanks anyways; see you both around! Anthonycfc [T • C] 20:46, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
