[edit] VandalSniper application
I've applied for rollback at User:Crazycomputers/VandalSniper/Applications. Not sure if I'll need it since I'm an administrator, but there you go. --Ryan Delaney talk 18:08, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Noted; I have had a few nudges regarding a backlog there, so I'll be handing the outstanding requests within the next day or two. Incidentally, you mentioned that you applied for "rollback"; that page is for applications to the VandalSniper application. Were you looking for Wikipedia:Requests for rollback, which is used to request access to the rollback feature? I will still process your application, but just be aware, the application you have filed is for access to the VandalSniper program, and not to have rollback enabled on your account.

[edit] FT2's talk page
I'm sure he appreciates that you fixed the code; however, somehow when you did that, about 77K of messages disappeared at the same time. You might want to take a look at that. ;-) Risker (talk) 20:42, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Whoops. =) Thanks for that heads up: I've no idea how that happened. :) I've reverted, and then re-done, and things look okay now. Please do, however, check out my latest change, in case I've mucked it up for a second time. Regards, Anthøny 21:05, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] My recent RfA
Thank you for supporting my RfA, which unfortunately didn't succeed. The majority of the opposes stated that I needed more experience in the main namespace and Wikipedia namespace and talk space, so that is what I will do. I have made a list and I hope I will be able to get through it. I will go for another RfA in about three month's time and I hope you will be able to support me then as well. If you have any other comments for me or wish to be notified when I go for another RfA, please leave them on my talk page. If you wish to nominate me for my next RfA, please wait until it has been about three months. I will not be checking back to this page so if you would like to comment or reply please use my talk page. Thanks again for participating in my RfA! ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 06:39, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New Comment
I am trying to learn how to place a Wikipedia entry up about my client. I work for a PR firm and they would like an entry placed up about their organization. I have looked at several competitor pages including Hampton Inn and Embassy Suites. These articles seem to have similar content as the AmericInn page I developed. Can you please explain to me why I keep getting pulled and show me what is promotional in my content. I am just trying to learn and successfully get my neutral entry up. Please respond.

[edit] MedCom case
Anthony: Thank you for your comments on my nomination page. I've agreed to take the Gilad Shalit case. I was about to contact the parties, but came across the information that as a non-committee member, I have to be accepted by them. Would you be able to assist in this regard or indicate someone who can? Also, if there are any guidelines for mediators, I would be grateful to be pointed to them. Thanks. Sunray (talk) 17:26, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Sunray, I have followed the standard Committee procedure regarding offers from non-MedCom mediators to take a case, and thrown a proposal out to parties on Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Gilad Shalit, for you to mediate; specifically, see this section.
- With regards to "resources for mediators", my best advice would be the mediation policy (which I presume you will already be familiar with, as a candidate to join the Committee). The sections regarding approaches to mediation, the structure of soliciting party input (including the available systems: spokespersons, et cetera), are especially important. Additionally, Wikipedia:Catalyst and Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Suggestions for mediators may also be helpful, although the last link is obviously from the MedCab, Wikipedia's informal group of mediators, and may not be entirely suited for formal mediation.
- Anthøny 20:23, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Thus far, only one participant has responded. Would it be a good idea to contact those who have not indicated their agreement with me as a mediator? Sunray (talk) 12:43, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] MedCom case
There is still only one response to your query about accepting me as mediator for the Gilad Shalit case. Should I contact the participants on their talk pages and ask them to indicate their acceptance? Sunray (talk) 15:27, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- You can go ahead and contact them if you wish, but remember that any messages you use to prompt them into signing up shouldn't be too "forceful": Mediation is, of course, a voluntary process. Fundamentally, however, I see no problem with you dropping a note on their talk pages.
- Anthøny 19:37, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
-
- Here's the note I put on their talk pages:
-
-
- "I have agreed to mediate the discussion in the Gilad Shalit case, if accepted by the participants. I have experience mediating in the world outside Wikipedia and have completed the Dispute Resolution Program at the Justice Institute of British Columbia, Canada. I have been a Wikipedia contributor since 2003 and have informally mediated several cases, including one for MedCab (which was concluded successfully). I have applied to join the Mediation Committee. As a mediator, my role would be to facilitate discussion. My approach would include the following:
- Listen to all participants
- Help formulate an agenda
- Identify common interests
- Identify pertinent facts/policies/research that would assist participants in forming agreement
- Facilitate an agreement and action plan.

[edit] Tell me what you need
You're under stressful times here, and you're getting nowhere fast. I think, however, the main problem is you're approaching things from the wrong angle, and with the wrong attitude. What is it that you need done? I will undertake my best attempts to help, so long as what you need is fair and warranted.
Anthøny 09:44, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- I made a few minor suggestions (creation of a redirect, minor restructuring of rfar) and I have been almost crucified for it. I do not know. I do need the redirect to more easily link to the case.
- As it stands, I probably will be forced to link to the Davenbelle for the next 47 years if my past 3 years is any indication. I wil hand feed the community more evidence and links to past cases (which are less than fun to type). I do not expect this dispute to be resolved for decades. If I turn out to be wrong... Well I suppose that is a good thing.
- I also need to be able to follow discussions on ArbCom. I spend a good deal of my time editing from a shared GPRS connection which has a speed close to a shared 56k (its slightly less). It's sluggish as is. As much as I find arbcom to be completely useless when dealing with disputes, the incompetent wikipedia will not move a yoctometer to help me and delegate the dispute to arbcom like it did the past 3 years.
- I intend to file an rfar case on Jack Merridew. I know there is a clarification but the overly complex long term nature of the case that seems to be a better way to address the problem. You being a clerk can probably make the transition better than I. Please make this transition. A clarification has a very high chance of disappearing for inactivity per my past experience.
- I seemingly need to demonstrate mediation (a field of science I have no interest to) in order to abolish an arbcom remedy. Since arbcom has shown complete apathy on the matter, I have to do this all by my self. Fun thing is I am only interested in the removal of this non-expiring remedy. Currently the remedy only serves to help trolls. I am open to suggestions on getting this remedy off my back.

[edit] Gordonstoun School Talk page
Hi, could you give me some advise, I'm doing edits to this page, improving it and generally tidying it up but was wondering if it is possible to delete posts made on the talk page. The earlier posts are pretty messy but wasn't sure if it was against policy to delete other people's posts regardless. You can see what i mean on the page. (please reply to my user talk page if convenient) Ru (talk) 10:48, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Any objection to making vade mecum into vade mecum (or handbook)? :-) Latin confuses some people without classical education. Carcharoth (talk) 21:42, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Untitled thread
I need you to please recover artice:Pbx software and send a copy to me thanks If you need access to a Wikipedia article that has been deleted, ask me. If it's not a copyright violation, libel, or personal information, and has not been deleted as a suspected WP:BLP violation, I will provide the text for you.
Note that using the text to recreate a deleted article automatically qualifies it for speedy deletion, and keeping deleted content hanging around in your userspace has gotten editors penalized before. But that's your problem.
