Hello, and thank you for offering to take this case. I was just seeking advice on a content dispute, I have not generally been engaged in such before and don't want to step over any lines unintentionally. The case is undergoing mediation now and the mediator thus far has been quite helpful.
I would like to ask a few questions privately, and will email them to you. Seraphimblade 09:46, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Ocd.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Ocd.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --Durin 13:34, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

- Hi there. Thanks again for the reminder. Don't mean to be a nag, but you did tell me this previously and I do add subst prefixes to my date template. However it may be I left it out. Would you mind giving me a reference? Thanks. Anthony.
- Your signature currently looks like this:
<font color="#000080">Anthon</font> <font color="#000080"><font color="#008000">y</font> <font color="#000080"><font color="#000080">cfc</font> <font color="#000080">(<font color="#000080">talk</font> • <font color="#000080">email</font>) <small>CURRENTTIME, CURRENTDAYNAME CURRENTMONTHNAME CURRENTDAY CURRENTYEAR (UTC)</small>
-
- You need to change it to this:
<font color="#000080">Anthon</font> <font color="#000080"><font color="#008000">y</font> <font color="#000080"><font color="#000080">cfc</font> <font color="#000080">(<font color="#000080">talk</font> • <font color="#000080">email</font>) <small>, (UTC)</small>

I. Am. So. Stupid. I was just dusting out my old pages and I opened that one, and voila, there was a request. That I of course missed because I haven't checked that page in a while. Terribly sorry. Anyway, is there any chance you'd still like one? Because I'd be more than happy to make one. And I can do that similar style or another, different one; completely up to yourself. Hi, you said my talk page was getting rather lengthly and I should archive it. Would it be ok for me just to delete the really old stuff and just keep the latest discussions ? Thanks. mjgm84 19:22, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hey there. Well the choice is really up to you; I prefer archives as they allow me to bring back having a look here
“ | "...Most users treat their user talk pages like regular talk pages, and archive the contents periodically to a personal subpage — either when the page gets too large, on a regular schedule, or when they take a wikivacation. Others delete comments after they have responded to them...." —Wikipedia:Talk Pages | ” |
- As I said the choice is yours; you may wish to archive for the purposes of reference or if someone wants to revive a discussion - or you may wish to simply delete finished conversations. May I remind you:
- I hope I have been of help, and just give me a yell if there is anything else you need to know.

[edit] User:Anthony cfc/signature
Hi Anthony, I wanted to give you a heads up that it doesn't appear your template is working properly. Specifically, the date and time after your signature always changes to the current time. I noticed this on a warning message that you left at User talk:204.38.104.10. It probably just needs to be subst'ed. Regards, Accurizer 14:32, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- Templates shouldn't be used in signatures anyway. If you're going to use a page in your user space as a signature, at least substitute it. I can fix the signature so that the time and date doesn't change, but you need to substitute it before it will work. You need to change your signature from

to

i would like to create a page or stub as the case may be for a transit company in canada and so far everytime i have tried it gets deleted claiming that i am advertising or spamming or the company is not notable... most places have stubs for things like this even your rapid transit and bus company list requests us to build that stuff up t he one i was trying to create for is Timmins Transit if you can help me it would be greatly appreciated (Yonzie1972 23:20, 20 November 2006 (UTC))
- Regarding Timmins Transit; I am a Public Transport enthusiast and I have never come across Timmins Transit. However, having said that it may be notable enough to consitute a Wikipedia article. The criteria for notability over companies is located at a subpage of WP:NOTABILITY (a guideline for notable of Wikipedia Articles). The subpage is Wikipedia:Notability/Companies and Corporations;
"...A product or service is notable if it meets any of the following criteria:(1)The product or service has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the company itself. (2)This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, television documentaries, and published reports by consumer watchdog organizations5 except for the following: (A) Media re-prints of press releases, other publications where the company or corporation talks about its products or services, and advertising for the product or service. Newspaper stories that do not credit a reporter or a news service and simply present company news in an uncritical or positive way may be treated as press releases unless there is evidence to the contrary.(B) Works carrying merely trivial coverage, such as simple price listings in product catalogues. (2)The product or service is so well-known that its trademark has suffered from genericization..." —Wikipedia:Notability/Companies and Corporations

[edit] Admin coaching, etc.
Are you ready to get started?
The waiting time over at Admin coaching is long (some people have been waiting in line since July). I'm an admin coach with the project, and for my students I set up a group discussion page so that we could all learn from each other. The scope of this concept has expanded into the Virtual classroom, which is an open forum for the teaching and learning of advanced Wikipedia skills.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate, as a student, as a coach, or both. Every week or two a new major topic of discussion or classroom assignment is introduced, usually with a guest writer who presents his or her expertise on the current subject and who remains on hand to answer questions. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the discussions, such as sharing your expertise, asking and answering questions, etc.
The current topic of discussion is vandalism, and our guest writer is Budgiekiller.
All discussions are open-ended, so all previous discussion topics and classroom assignments are still there for viewing and further participation. There are also sections for posting miscellaneous topics and questions, requesting coaching assistance, etc.
In addition to inviting those who would like to learn, I routinely invite experts from all over Wikipedia to come and contribute for the benefit of all. The VC is rapidly turning into a clearing house of the best resources, methods, and techniques known for working on Wikipedia.
You are cordially invited to participate.
Here's an announcement box which you can place on your userpage or at the top of your talk page for keeping up to date with classroom assignments.
I hope to see you there. Sincerely, The Transhumanist 07:37, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Three quick things,
Db1944 - now that you are back I will let you carry on your adoption duties, but I will tell Db1944 I can stay on as a co-adopter, and help out if a second-opinion is needed or you are not about.
Sooner-Dave - see User talk:Sooner Dave
- You look like you have made a template for offering adoptions - which is cool - but you need to add a ":" before Category links otherwise it just adds the page to the Cat and adds no link - have sorted this one.
- Unless the User does not want it please add the Adoptee userbox to their userpage - or if they hate userboxes just the Cat.
Cheers - any questions give me a shout. Lethaniol 20:46, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

I find your response to my comment rather strange. What part of it was "false information"? Do you understand why just removing red links can be a bad decision? Do you not wish to rectify any damaging edits you may have made by arbitrarily removing red links? --C S (Talk) 19:57, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- My apologies, I was in the middle of archiving when I came across your information; it was then I created the archived tag but rather than copy out the entire template link I copied the first one I could remember (/no) and proceeded to sub in Archived. Obviously this did not work.

- Cheers and regards,

-
- Despite the fact I already knew this policy when I learned the basic policies long ago, I still followed your recommendations and reread Wikipedia:Red link. Upon doing so, my suspisiouns were confirmed:
-
-
-
-
- "...The link is broken and no longer leads to an article (perhaps because the underlying article was deleted). In such a case, the link needs to removed..."
-- Wikipedia:Red links
- "...The link is broken and no longer leads to an article (perhaps because the underlying article was deleted). In such a case, the link needs to removed..."
-
-
-
-
- Therefore, I was enforcing Wikipedia:Red links whilst simultaneously improving Wikipedia by removing non-functioning links. I was not removing the opportunity for editors familiar on the topic of the articles to link to an article and then create that article, but since I was simply clicking Special:Random I was not knowledgeable on any of the topics and thus couldn't create the article.
-
- I hope this is a satisfactory response. (My standard sign-off after disputes:) please do let me know if you think I have WP:BITTEN or been WP:UNCIVIL. If there is anything else you need, just let me know.
-
- Cheers and regards,
Anthony (20:19; 28/D/06)
- Cheers and regards,
I am puzzled at how you can read the guideline and come to the conclusion that it says to remove all red links. Your out of context quoting of part 2 misses entirely the point of part 1 that explain that some red links should stay as they are beneficial. I realize you thought you were repairing a broken link, but some red links are fundamental to the article and should not be removed. It's clear to me that that occurred at knot complement; it seems to have happened on at least a couple other cases I checked (but can't remember now). --C S (Talk) 20:39, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
