[edit] Boston Lexeme
Boston (Lincolnshire)
Well there you go again , you lot at Wikipedia, not only are you not tracking cross-language indexing, you are also not tracking obvious historical-geographical indices. Boston, the original Boston, befindet sich in Lincolnshire. SO, when I enter the query text 'Boston' in Wikipedia, how come there's no mention of Boston Lincolnshire?
p.s. it's fucking impossible to follow a significant administrative thread in Wikipedia, you have to push down 10 levels of links then pop then push then blow off steam, then f'n almost give up
- There's no mention of Boston (Lincolnshire) because the article hasn't been created yet ~ Anthøny 08:12, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] neocolonialism in :ru:Русские в Казахстане
PLEASE HELP!!! the article has necolonial point of view, to Russian in Kazakhstan, and hints that Russia must annex the part of Kazakhstan's territory. As the reason the article claims "discrimination" of Russian in Kazakhstan, and uses neo-nazy sources and reviews with full ignoring Human Rights Watch reviews, that have no notice of racial discrimination. Unfortinatelly the administrators of Russian Wiki fully ignores non-neutrality of the article, as it has waste of sources (especially with neo-nazy pont of view) DO NOT DELETE IT! I HAVE NO OTHER PLACE TO COMPLAIN!!!!! Russian Adiministartors fully ignores this non-neutrality! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.115.55.184 (talk • contribs) 12:29, August 3, 2007

[edit] Response
"Well, basically your entire attitude to Wikipedia. I've watched you harass White Cat for a few months now, and I've long wanted something done about it. Hopefully the realisation that such behaviour won't be stood for is enough for you too change your ways"
- If you think that situation is a representation of my general attitude on Wikipedia then you're not very well informed about my behavior. And no, simply doing things that he doesn't like isn't harassment. -- Ned Scott 01:23, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
-
- Ah, there I go making a message needlessly confrontational. *smacks forehead* What I should have said was that I hope you don't see that single situation is not a representation of my attitude towards Wikipedia. I don't believe I was harassing Cat at the time, in that harassment was not intended. Cat has a history of these kinds of issues with many different people. When he feels cornered he plays his harassment card, even accusing admins and users, more respectable than I, of stalking him. Cat is the one creating drama in hopes of allowing himself to get his way in a dispute. It has happened time and time again. Just take a look at his past RfAs. I told a problematic editor to not do what he was told not to do. He repeated his actions, I reverted him. In most situations this is acceptable and routine, but because Cat threw a fit, here we are. -- Ned Scott 02:01, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your RfA and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jason Sokol
My judgement was incorrect at that time. In hindsight, I should have 1)done a better job of searching for evidence of notability (Dhartung's examples greatly helped me understand how notability is applied to books), and 2)if I still thought the notability was not sufficient to justify two pages, proposed merging the two pages rather than deleting. An example of my merging a non-notable topic is Fourth University Commission. I believe I have learned my lesson and in the future will not be making the kind of judgment error involved my Jason Sokol nomination. LyrlTalk C 01:41, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Trouble on Scott Thomas Beauchamp article.
This article has caused several ongoing edit wars, particularly over the last ten hours. In checking the talk pages of the main participants, I noticed that you recently blocked one of them (Eleemosynary) for his/her involvement in the Mark Simone article. Eleemosynary has been blocked five or six times for everything from 3-RR to disruption of an article to legal threats.
I wanted to make a report on this latest 3-RR violation, but I'm having a terrible time filling out the form. I'm not very skilled at HTML, and I'm not usually a frequent editor at Wikipedia. Could you offer any advice or help? A.V. 13:32, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- No problem; if you go ahead and file the report as best you can, with an additional comment "{{user|AGK}} has offered to assist in this report, so can you wait for him to sort it out before handling". Anthøny 17:51, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Watermint (talk · contribs)
Hey there Andrew.
Just a quick check here. I've overturned your recent 3RR block on User:Watermint based on the evidence at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/3RR#User:Watermint reported by User:Bason1 (Result: Blocked, 10 hours). I think there's been some sort of mistake here, as the blocked editor didn't revert-war on any of the articles cited. In fact, the editor that complained is currently the subject of a CheckUser case. Maybe I'm missing something here, but I've unblocked in the meantime. Hope you don't mind - Alison ☺ 05:27, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
- First off, my name's Anthony :) don't worry, I get Andrew and even Daniel sometimes. I'm not really sure why it's incorrect, but I've not rechecked the links so I can't be sure. If you give me a bit, I can get back to you, either with an apology, or an explanation of why a violation occurred. Anthøny 09:21, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
- Oops! Sorry about the name. Dunno how that happened! Yes, another review or two would be a good thing as I don't usually overturn blocks just like that but this case was really strange indeed - Alison ☺ 13:37, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
- Dear, dear me; I am *so* stupid. I didn't even realise they were on different articles :( I apologise deeply for this misunderstanding; I always make a point to check small details like that, and the one time I never, was a malformed request! I (obviously) fully endorse your unblocking, and thanks for taking the time to point this out! I'd best go over to Watermint's page and apologise :| Cheers, Anthøny 13:41, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
- Oh hey, it happens to us all :) I'd unblocked before Watermint even noticed so it's not so bad. Having said that, I'd take a closer look at the editor who filed the report as they later went on to do the exact same thing again which was a little strange. They've also been using more than one account (serially, however). Thanks again - Alison ☺ 13:46, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
- I'd best just stay clear of this entire incident, in case I delete the main page or something in the process of investigating :) thanks again for pointing me in the right direction! ~ Anthøny 13:47, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi. You blocked User:Chrisottjr - may I ask why? Was it mainly for the attack on User:Videmus Omnia? If so, he seems to have calmed down, and I think can be reasoned with, see User talk:Chrisottjr#Removed personal attacks. Or was it something else? --AnonEMouse (squeak) 15:50, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

I see the draft for my RfA, but I just can't get to it tonight. I've going non-stop for 22 hours now and I can barely see straight. My answers to the questions are mostly done, but I want to go over them one more time with a fresh and clear mind. I should have them all posted by this time tomorrow. Thank you very much for all your help. Trusilver 06:13, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- 22 hours! On Wikipedia? Even I don't do that ... well, except one time when I was in hospital, and had nothing but my laptop and a book I've read sixteen million times :) not a problem - RfAs shouldn't be rushed, and in particular your answers to the questions ... be sure to fill them out carefully, and remember to always think from the point of view of how to improve Wikipedia (and, if necessary, what action you would take that would most benefit Wikipedia). Finally, *please* don't agree with "I humbly accept your nomination" ... I've been talking to a few people who don't like it - "I accept" would do. Anthøny 16:52, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Advertising? Spam?
Anthony,
Maxim read the my article and told me it qualifies for deletion as spam or advertising. Please read it and see if you agree:
[edit] 2-28 loan
What a concept! We have had variable rate mortgages in the past. The annual ceiling was fixed at 3/4 of a point, and could only be raised if the consumer price index rose that much. Two years ago we refinanced at 8.5% which rose to 11.5% with 45 days notice. The notice states that they can, which means they will raise it 3% every six months, ad infinitum. Ergo, we will be paying 14.5% next year and 20.5% the year after. We are in Michigan. I would like to know in how many states this is legal?--W8IMP 17:06, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

- Sorry, but I've not once been given the link to this article. You'll need to provide it before I can give a second opinion ~ Anthøny (contact ⇔ talk) 10:01, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Anthony,
Here is the link to “2-28 loans”:
[edit] Types of Subprime lending
Subprime mortgages
Paragraph 1
Paragraph 2
Paragraph 3
Paragraph 4, listing different kinds of subprime mortgages
Paragraph 5: This last class of mortgages has grown particularly among subprime lenders since the 1990’s. Common lending vehicles within this group include the “2-28” loan, which offers a low inititial interestst rate that stays fixed for two years after which the loan resets to a higher adjustable rate of the remaining life of the loan, in this case 28 years…
Please note that the “2-28” loan is in red, indicating that I created a new page and a link to it. Although my initial statement, “What a concept!”, could possibly be misconstrued as advertising, any reader who examines the terms of such a loan, could hardly be construed as advertising. 6%/year for 28 years could hardly be considered anything but predatory lending. My oversight in reading the initial contract has resulted in our urgent need to get out of our home of the last twenty three years, and find affordable housing, most likely thousands of miles from here. My rationale for creating the new page was not advocating for 2-28 loans, but merely a solicitation for conversation among other victims.
Please take a moment to read Maxim’s talk page. He proudly proclaims to have deleted over 1700 entries under Wiki policies. His first deletion was that my entry was “speedily deleted as patent nonsense: an unsalvageably incoherent page with no meaningful content.” When I reiterated its content to Maxim, he labeled it “blatant advertising as would any other established user at Wikipedia.”
You are unquestionably another "established" user at Wikipedia, and as such I anxiously await your opinion.
Thank you, --W8IMP 15:11, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- The article 2-28 loans did not look like that; it read like so:

Two years ago we refinanced at 8.5% which rose to 11.5% with 45 days notice. The notice states that they can, which means they will raise it 3% every six months, ad infinitum. [edit] thanks
Hi Anthony - thanks for the encouragement to archive my 250+ thread talk page. I've been meaning to do it, but you know how it is... but I now have, so thanks. So, to return the favor: did you know that the instruction you give above in the "header" box for people to start new conversations with you actually goes to Booksworm's talk page, not yours? Unless I'm in some kind of time warp, if you click on the link in this sentence above Please keep related threads together; to begin a new conversation, use this link., you'll see what I mean! Thanks again - by the way, I love Scotland - spent a couple of weeks there in 1971 and again on my 1976 honeymoon. Hope to return some time - beautiful country. Cheers! Tvoz |talk 06:31, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- No problem - I just thought I'd bring it to your attention, as quite often a talk page in need of archiving goes unnoticed because your so used to it being long! Regarding that link - I really have no idea how that happened :\ it's not even as if I copied that link from Bookworm's page, because I'm perfectly able of whipping up that link myself (e.g., my header) ... spooky! Oh, and thanks for the Scotland comment - if you want more on Scotland, check out its dedicated portal ... recently revamped by myself and Daniel (an Australian, but nevertheless good at WikiCoding :-) be sure to pop by again soon! [edit] Good faith
I think in the case of the user you mention that I have assumed good faith. Their first edit was to their user page, showing a clear understanding of Wikipedia. Their next approximately 150 edits were all undos, and as far as I can see, the edits they were undoing were useful ones. Given their claimed age and their polite reaponse to my queries, I have assumed that these were good faith edits, but to improve the encyclopaedia I rolled them back and explained to the user why. Since then, most of their edits have been non-controversial "votes" in AfD and RFA discussions. This is not a normal editing pattern for a new and well meaning contributor, and I think therefore it pays to keep an eye on her.-gadfium 19:37, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- Naturally - I myself am keeping an eye on numerous users at the moment; however, both to keep the encyclopedia running smoothly, and too prevent conflict, it is always best to go about this in a more ... low-key manner. Just my thoughts. Anthøny ん 15:56, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] taking a moment to think
RE: I beg to differ; you asked him to resign his Administrator right on the English Wikipedia - that is about as serious (and direct) accusation of Administrator-abuse you can get. Perhaps taking a moment to think before you post is in order - trust me, it does a lot of good. Anthøny 17:46, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi Anthøny, I'd consider asking someone to think before you post an insult on personal level. Please do not question other editor’s ability to use their brains in the future.
Regarding your opinion concerning Administrator-abuse, I still would go on if I may with my understanding that Administrator-abuse would be a case where the administrator privileges have been misused directly. Taking sides in the middle of an ongoing political edit war without any attempt to find a consensus first, by removing sourced citations from Time Magazine [1], actions that are clearly politically motivated would not be an abuse of administrator privileges in my opinion. But in case you'd insist, I would not argue against it further.
Please note that I did not wish to return to this subject but since the pattern of politically motivated actions have continued: For example I'd consider mocking another editor [2] for exactly similar act ("removing sourced info") done by the attacker a little earlier, explained as "Editorial of 1940 is obviously not a reliable source"[3] and presenting it in another similar situation as "removing sourced info like that with the only explanation: "removing someditor's propaganda" is not the best style of work." So suddenly the Time magazine reporting from back 1940 is not a reliable source, not good enough for WP but the Kommersant the Modern Russian daily editorial is reliable and removing the first is OK but the second is not? Since the administrator under discussion has clearly sided with a political agenda on WP in my opinion, it goes against my understandings that an administrator should try to avoid actions based on his/her political bias, instead should try to find a common ground, a consensus etc. I might be wrong but that is the way I understand it should work. Now since there is a third questionable act that I've happened to come across, a Reverted edit by ImageRemovalBot [4], an image that has been removed from WP since it has no source, no license etc. An image that I personally do have reasons to believe is a hoax, not an original but created nowadays for "the information only" purposes [5]. Restoring such an image seems like an attempt to keep smearing the country and its history on WP. I'm not saying that it's a case of the good and the bad and the ugly, black or white. I'm just saying that at least an administrator on WP should not involve him/herself with crossing the borders of propaganda and facts.
Now, I do not wish to return to this subject here and bother you with this ever again. So please if you must, only respond on my talk page or email directly. I just happened to notice your post addressed to me on the related talk page and it looked like some things needed to be clarified. Thanks for your time.--Termer 06:07, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- No, I won't be responding on your talk page or via email, as it is obvious that this discussion is futile. What I will say is this - I stand by my statement, that you did indeed accuse him of Administrator abuse, and that it does a lot of good if you think before you post. I do not accept your claim that I have personally attacked you.
- I have not read the screeds of content you've posted above, apart from the first few lines, and I have no intention of. Happy editing, and please bear in mind the advice I have given you. Anthøny ん 16:05, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Anthøny for making it so clear, the discussion involving political repressions, about 2000 executed +another 60000 deported -is futile in your opinion. Any advice any time is always appreciated. Happy editing to you too and most of all, successful dispute resolvings in the future!--Termer 03:23, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Mediation Committee/Nominations/Deskana
Hey AGK, I'd be interested to know what you were going to say here before you blanked half my nomination. :-p --Deskana (apples) 20:53, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- Whoops :\ that's been happening with my emails too ... sorry about that! I'll finish the question off. Anthøny ん 20:55, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Oops!
We clashed - sorry! Looks like we both agreed, though :) - Alison ☺ 14:43, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
- I received the "new messages" text just as I was about to inform you :) I suppose there is such a thing as a protection-conflict! No worries, Anthøny ん 14:44, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Note
Hi Anthony. I brought you up at WP:AC/CN as potentially having the chance to open a case, if you're still interested. Picaroon (t) 04:12, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] CSD AutoReason Updated
Attention spamlist! I've just updated CSD AutoReason to account for the new image deletion page. If you'd just hard refresh (Ctrl+F5 in most browsers), you'll get the new version and be on your way. ^demon[omg plz] 17:59, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Status
I'm currently very busy off-Wiki, and as such my time here has been reduced to virtually zero. I apologise for any inconvenience my absence may cause, in particular to the parties in my current cases. I hope to be back for a brief burst over the weekend, but it looks like the following week will be just as bad. Parties - watch this space for details on when I'll be back to (permanent) full editing levels, and direct any urgent queries to me by email (details).
Kind regards,
Anthøny ん 17:23, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re. Random comment ;-)
Hello AGK. A weird virus infected my computer and I simply haven't been in the mood for removing it. It affects my internet connection and with it my Wikipedia activities. I'll hunt the sucker down in the next few days. Apart from this, I'm great. :-) Good to hear from you. Have a good time. Best regards, Húsönd 14:10, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- Glad go hear your good (apart from the virus!), and I hope to see you back editing soon! Also, I see you've still not found a replacement for the Esperanza link in your signature ... that needs remedied ;) Anthøny ん 16:25, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Birmingham meetup
Hi there, I noticed you put your name down as interested in a Birmingham meetup. Just letting you know, the date is now set as Saturday 20th October. We really need input on where, and what time we will meet, so comments would be much appreciated on the page. Thanks. Majorly (talk) 13:05, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- Saturday sounds good ... if it was a weekday, there would be no way I could go, at least until November-ish, which is the first time I'll be able to get away from things. Anyway, I'll give my two pence on the time, etc... when I can. Thanks for the notification ~ Anthøny ん 16:25, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Possibly unfree Image:Ocd.jpg
An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:Ocd.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 05:58, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- I strongly oppose this, although I'm afraid I haven't got the time to go through the proper procedure at the current instant. The copyright holder for this image released it into the public domain over a year ago, and since then it's been included in such articles as OCD. Anthøny ん 16:25, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
