In the course of my activities, it has often become necessary, I feel, to state in writing some of my more unconventional practices, or those that may not be automatically attributed to my operations. Listed below are a few statements on certain areas of my activity.

[edit] Mediation Committee

I currently serve as a Mediator of the Mediation Committee, the highest dispute resolution committee on Wikipedia in content matters, and have been active since my appointment. I generally Mediate one or two cases at a time, as they appear on the Open Tasks page. As a rule of thumb, I generally do not take highly specialised cases if the topic in question is an area of expertise of another Mediator, but otherwise I will take any dispute I am not recused from.

As an editor who generally does not enter into disputes as a party, I very rarely recuse from Mediation cases. The criterion for my doing so are generally common sense: previous negative interactions with a party, personal biases in the area in question, and such like. In accordance with standard Mediation Committee practice, complaints about non-neutrality should be forwarded to the Committee Mailing List, where they will be privately deliberated by the active members and Committee advisers.

As a Wikipedia Administrator, I strive to improve the encyclopedia through the tools granted to me by the Community. To this end, I promise to offer a fair hearing to all users who believe they have been wronged, by myself or another editor, including in the field of Administrator actions. Thus, so long as you present your case in a well-documented, organised way with solid evidence, I promise to handle your argument with due thoroughness, investigation and courtesy, and to always inform you of the outcome. In addition to the Mailing Lists, I am active on a number of channels on the Freenode server of Internet Relay Chat, on many of the Wikimedia channels. All of the channels that I idle in are related to my activities on-Wiki in some way; for example, I am a member of wikipedia-mediation, a private Mediation Committee channel, and on wikipedia-en-admins, a restricted channel for administrators and trusted users.
