Religious remark

Hello. I couldn't help noticing your comment on TeckWiz's RFA. If you don't mind a personal comment, I am tempted to suggest that you avoid using sentences such as "God bless him" to users unless you are aware of their religious observance. I am saying this because many users on Wikipedia might be e.g. atheists and might frown upon such sentences because it looks as if you don't even consider that they might not believe in God (I'm agnostic and I have felt slightly offended in a similar situation before). I'm not saying that Wikipedia is a heathen place, but I do recommend avoiding religious greetings when addressing the community. Last but not least, the sentence you appended to your signature "Deus, Familia, Patria" can also be considered inflammatory, as for example in my country that used to be the motto of the fascist government we had through most of the XX century. Sorry for expressing my views which might have sounded a little bit bitter. Best regards, Húsönd 23:19, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

This comment has been responded to here. Boricuaeddie
Oh, I'm really sorry if I caused distress. I was not troubled or angry by your sentences, and they were not a mistake. It's just that I saw that you were a new user and from my experience on Wikipedia, I thought that I should alert that political/religious/ideological issues are often better to keep restricted. Which doesn't mean that you may not express your faith in God (you're absolutely free to do so on Wikipedia), but like I said it's better to bear in mind that Wikipedians come from all over the world and have all kinds of religions, so beware with faux pas. On the other hand, don't take my recommendations too seriously. Please accept my most sincere apologies if I was unpleasant or made you feel guilty. Best regards, Húsönd 01:01, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Acacia oerfota(Forssk.) Schweinf.

I would say that you need to justify why you think it is nonsense. LegumeWeb [1] doesn't think so and it is extremely well documented. Dcarlson 19:17, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Can you explain why you labeled Acacia oerfota patent nonsense? I am not knowledgeable in that area of science, and it appears to me that user:Dcarlson may be, given his edit history. It is clear that only someone with knowledge in that area could judge whether the content is nonsense or not, and in that case, an inviation to all administrators (such as me) to delete on sight seems rash. Michael Hardy 19:21, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello. You recently posted a comment on my talk page regarding my request for the speedy deletion of Acacia oerfota. I would like to explain to you that the article was empty when I requested its speedy deletion. The information that appears on the current version of the article was added after my request. Please forgive me if I am wrong. Yours truly, Boricuaeddie 20:10, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

But it was not empty; it included a template that had some information. That's all that was there before I got this message on my talk page from you. Certainly there was no reason to call it "patent nonsense". Michael Hardy 20:33, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Re: China Multimedia Mobile Broadcasting

It's not a company. It's a standard developed by the state administration in China. There is no speedy criterion for this kind of thing. Moreover, if it's a communications standard specified by the Chinese state, it is inherently encyclopedic since it affects several billion people, and will influence international corporations for years to come. Note that it is referenced, since the second of the external link explicitly states the same facts as in the article right at the top of the page. Splash - tk 14:42, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

National Development and Research Institute

Hello Eddie. The article is a stub and I've attributed that the description of the organization comes from their website. Are you contesting that the description of NDRI is inaccurate? If you can indicate what else requires a reference I'll be glad to try to find one, but I feel at this point the article doesn't make any claims that require outside sources to back up. As far as I know, it's not policy to leave the uncited notice on articles that are just stubs and in development (see the last bullet point at Template:Unreferenced). There doesn't seem to be any criteria currently for the uncited tag based on the "When to cite sources" in WP:CITE. Regards, --Howrealisreal 19:30, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Look Eddie, I think more than one person told you the same ( imdb is reliable) including myself above, if you still go ahead and revert despite three other persons disagreeing with you, expecting a very charming response is misplaced. And if you are looking to make a difference and promoting wikilove, look to "add" to the articles rather than looking to find faults. One way could be to first search for references and put them, or put the uncited tag after you couldn't trace references. Being on article patrol looking for faults is not going to promote wikilove. Haphar 07:30, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
So others pay for your ignorance ? please learn all the policies before going to tag others pages. And if you are going to come to my talk page and leave wiki smiles to promote wikilove, (without my asking you to), please be ready to receive advice on what amounts to wikilove in my opinion. Hi there

Hello, Boricuaeddie:

I've been around on Wikipedia long enough to know that potentially contentious claims need sources! I had every intention on adding them, after I had translated the main bulk of the article from Spanish. When you sent the message to me, my article was not finished yet, but I have to save the pages that I work on, whether they are completed or not, every twenty minutes or so, as I have the dodgiest internet connection around, which has lost me some collosal articles in the past!

Poochin article

I'm not entirely sure why you think the Poochin article is uncited. A) the parent article contains similar information, and b) the first link provided is an external source about the specific breed.

If it is simply because it does not have a Citation tag then why didn't you just put it in yourself? The location to cite was available on the page.

Thank you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Julisana (talkcontribs) 14:19, 29 April 2007 (UTC).

Unreferenced tags

You need to watch what you place unreferenced tags on. In one article about a movie you marked it as unrefereced when wikipedia considers imdb.com to be a verifiable reliable reference for use on movie and actor/actress articles. And on another page you marked it as not referenced as well and it had hockeydb.com which is considered a verifiable reliable reference for the sake of hockey player articles. --Djsasso 22:51, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Whitby Public Library

Your point about the article is taken and your assumptions are correct. However, I don't think I violated NPOV as the article simply describes the history of the institution and services offered to the community. In terms of the inclusion of the article - several public libraries have articles, so I don't think adding an article about this particular system is out of line. Indeed, presenters at a recent conference I attended suggested adding an article on individual libraries. I can name at least one other library article that was written by a library staffer, and I imagine that some of the others probably were too. The only difference is that I state my profession upfront and that I also try to contribute on other articles. I've been editing Wikipedia for some time and I feel that I have a decent record. So I'm not sure of the best way to handle this. For starters, do you find anything in the article itself objectionable / NPOV ? Thanks. Blotto adrift 23:03, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure I take your same reading of the policy - it states that "you should avoid or exercise great caution editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with." I feel that I have adhered to the second tenet of this policy. As for rewriting the article, I don't feel that I'm in a position to ask anyone to do that. Please report the article to admin if you feel it necessary to do so and I will obviously stand by their decision. And while I appreciate your positive words about the article, I can't help but feel dis encouraged (discouraged). I believe that the article should stand on its own merits or lack thereof, not of the credentials of the person who wrote it. I understand the reasoning behind the policy and I think it's a good one - however, I'm having difficulty in the immediate assumption of bias in this case. Blotto adrift 00:03, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Manhattan Piano Trio deletion

    • Raniero Tazzi

Hello Eddie, I tried to make a page about the Manhattan Piano Trio. In my talks I also explain why I think the page should be there, but despite that has been removed 3 times. Am I doing something wrong with a procedure? Because I feel is a little bit strange that a page about a Piano Trio performing internationally and regularly cannot find a place here, where there are so many artists that are mentioned by themself, out of their ego only. Of course I feel is wrong from my side to keep insisting uploading something that is deleted systematically, but as I am not fully familiar with the way of working of wikipedia, I did not understand if is you deleting that, or if the system is deleting that, or who knows....some other piano trio that hates them :) Best regards, Raniero, ranierotazzi

Hi Eddy. First of all I wish to apologise about not using the correct signature to my replies. I am just learning how to use Wikipedia, and thank you for helping and explaining about this. About the deletion of my page, I feel this like a sort of abuse and as a little injustice. As I believe very much in this fantastic service which is Wikipedia, of course I will not insist in uploading the page about a Piano Trio that I do not even know the players personally, but I simply find them as very interesting musicians, high level musicianship and with an active professional and international career. Please, let me draw your attention to the fact that you have your own page (probably you are famous enough) and you describe yourself as a musician. Are you enough good musician to describe yourself to the world as a musician? Is it of any interest to anybody in the world that you are a musician? If yes, and I have no reason to doubt, I really would like to listen some of your recordings and see the schedule of your concerts. Given the fact that I am the manager of several wordwide famous classical musicians, I might be very interested in your musical activity. Going back to the Manhattan Piano Trio dispute, it is interesting to see that they have an average of about 10-15 professional recitals per month (by professional recital I mean that they are getting a regular fee, performing in established Performing Art Series, and are not performing for parents, relatives, friends, uncles, aunts, cousins, classmates and even pets). I would be very interested to see your concert schedule, that should be obviously better than theirs, considering that you feel necessary and have the right to inform the world about the fact that you are a musician. Thank you, all the best. Ranierotazzi 23:55, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Ranierotazzi

Hello Boricuaeddie. You had some concerns about a COI in the creation of the Whitby Public Library article, and you tagged it for neutrality as well. Could you take another look? Mickey Mouse's name in other languages

Hello. I have placed an unreferenced tag on the Mickey Mouse's name in other languages article. My reason for this is that I have found some translations of Mickey's name to be incorrect. An example of this is the Spanish version. At least in Puerto Rico, Mickey's name is still Mickey Mouse. Still, if you were to translate the name to Spanish, it would be "Mickey el Ratón", not "Ratón Mickey". Please provide some references for the translations before removing the tag. Thank you. Thanks for you advice! Runewiki777 21:11, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

You completely misread my post, didn't you? I told him NOT to hit the guy. Specifically, I said to tell the guy to go away in an assertive (not angry or threatening) manner, and if that failed to work, to tell a parent or teacher and try to get it sorted out that way. What I said about violence was that, per my religious inclinations, I would have hit the guy if he didn't leave me alone. I'm certainly not asserting that that's a good thing to do, but it's very likely what I would have done.

Now, even though you have the right to say what you wish, I do not think you should promote a dangerous brand of passivity to minors. Turning the other cheek never made a bully go away - it just invites more bullying by branding the victim as an easy target, and no one should have to live as a target for abuse of any kind.

Thanks for the WikiSmile though. =) PMC 22:43, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

  • All right, then. You do what God prefers you to do, I'll do what I prefer me to do; as intelligent adults we'll both agree to disagree, and there shall be WikiSmiles all around, yeah? =) PMC 23:06, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

White Paper Co.'s speedy deletion

Hi there, you're right, my edit summary is something of a non-sequitur. That's what comes of using templates too much! To be honest with you, I can't see how the article could be taken for an advertisement. It states when and who started it, the locations of its facilities and the fact that it has won awards. If there's a problem with it, I would think it's the lack of citation and there may be a conflict of interest but neither of these are speediable "offences". I've given it a quick prune to remove anything POV-ish. If you're still not happy with it prod it or begin an AfD. Cheers, Mallanox 21:52, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Re:Social Networking

I'm sorry that you were upset by my conversing with another Wikipedia editor, but I will have you know that no one, and especially not you, being a new member, will block me from editing for doing so. Being a member here for nearly two years, I am not scared by a serious-sounding message on my talk page from a 2 month member, nor is it "strictly forbidden" as you seem to think. I see from your userpage that you are highly uneducated, since you support the impeachment of a President who has done nothing to warrant such actions. Since you are in the 8th grade, however, hopefully you will outgrow these irrational and unwarranted opinions. Weatherman90 23:42, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

You're not exactly the person to be accusing me of biting, when you have done so yourself. You, by the way, are not a newcomer. It is hard to assume good faith when someone tries to unnecessarily silence opponents to his/her political views. The bolding of the will is also getting a bit old and unnecessary. Weatherman90 23:58, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
If you are worried about the fate of Wikipedia, it is probably better to patrol for vandalism - I have no intention of turning this into a social networking site - I was merely making a comment. I respect and admire your religion, but would like to add that I support our President because he fights for freedom, instead of supporting the 1.4 million abortions a year as John Kerry would have as President. In addition, I agree with you - I should not have brought your age into the matter. Weatherman90 01:35, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Personal attacks

In extreme cases, if personal attacks are amounting to harassment, you could raise the matter at WP:ANI. However, generally its probably best to just ignore the user and get on with something else unless their conduct is actually disrupting Wikipedia. Hope that helps, WjBscribe 00:04, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Re

I got your comment. After chating with a friend of mine, he disaggres with you! Not to be rude, since I am new, but I could not find anything on that! Also, on a better note, thank you for the award! Even through we disagree on politics, and with this matter, it shows that are love for Wikipeida is stronger than a disagreement!!!!! =) Thank you for your comment!!!!!! P.S. I have been to Puerto Rico, and it is a beautiful island. Politics rule 11:22, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

1) Don't insult me with non-topical cut and paste warnings on my talk page. You haven't been here even 6 months. I've been here for years. Or are you an admin sock? 2) Do you not understand that deleting existing articles, erasing any mention or record of them from existence, is abusive? - MSTCrow 18:06, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

I did not mention any admin, my point was that they deleted any record of their action, including who performed said action. Abusive administrators are endemic to Wikipedia, which is something you learn quickly here, but that's not something I previously discussed. Hatred of unnamed, unmentioned admins? That would be very difficult to figure out from an external perspective. You may not have looked into the page carefully, but it was not nonsense, and not an attack, but a protest of erasing any record of the pages existence, which is something that is extremely frowned upon. I did not accuse you of being a sock, but such activity and familiarity with the system from someone a few months old is suspicious. Well-meaning but frenzied new users would not be totally desirable either. - MSTCrow 18:25, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Sorry

I am deeply sorry that I said that guy that starts with B. I just did not remeber your name, which is not an excuse for my behavior. I was deeply, saddened by your comments. Looking back too, I have found that people judge you by your age. Well, I'm in 7th grade, and am 13, around your age too!!!! That makes me feel upset, because I feel that people can be mean to us young people. As Christians, we should know as you say "spread the love". With all the hate going around, we need to be kind to one another. That is why I'm on the Kindness Campaign. While we disagree on Bush, we both know that are love for Wikipedia can over come this. I hope that we can become friends here! Please respond. I will write all the people I talked to you about, and tell them I was wrong. I hope you got the medal I gave you, for you wonderful habits on the birthday committee! Also please look at the comment I put on Weatherman90's talk page, saying you were a nice guy. And again, I'm sorry you felt insulted.

I hope this message reaches you in godd health and cheer!!

Re:Your Comment

I think we need to clear a few things up here. Neither I, nor Politics Rule, are becoming quote "hostile" in any way. I don't know why you feel threatened; note that we both commented that you are a "nice guy" prior to your message, and I even apologized for bringing your age into the issue. I'm sorry you feel insulted, but I'm sure you can understand my initial assumption. That said, I think you are the one taking this too far - no mediation is necessary; I have no desire to continue any conversation with you beyond this necessary clarification. birthday Committee

Hey. You must thing I'm getting annoying, but i have to ask. When you introduced me to the Committee,it said I met all the requirments. What are they? Politics rule 02:07, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Re. Help!

Sorry, guess I was too late to help you. :-) Good to know the issue has been resolved anyway. Regards, Húsönd 02:57, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

That is good

I am glad we worked this out!! In America, you are not allowed to vote until your 18. Most of my family is in politics, and I intend to enter them one day. I know many politicians. Why I have all those political views on there, I have no clue. Nice talking to you, and your welcome for the award! Politics rule 18:14, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

SD Nomination of Nicario jimenez

It's actually from this website: [3]. It is directly copied from here, so I changed it on the Speedy Deletion tag. --Cyrus Andiron 18:48, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Tagging of Edugeek

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Edugeek. I do not think that Edugeek fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because This isn't really a speedy, I have tagged it with {{prod}} instead. I request that you consider not re-tagging Edugeek for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES (talk) 20:53, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Not a problem. Some admins are stricter about the speedy criteria than others -- that is a judgement call. Prod is helpful because it gives a few days in case soemone can present valid resaons for retention -- theis does soemtimes happen in the strangest cases. DES (talk) 21:03, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for changing the tag. I hope that I am starting to expand the term a bit more. I am aware that it is a neologism to some extent but I also believe it is notable now, even if the use of it is within UK education. I didn't want to go directly into creating an article on edugeek.net, perhaps I should have.Tonyshep 22:21, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
You will find that there is considerable resistance to articles about neologisims unless you can document fairly widespread use based on reliable sources that you cite in the article. Citations to general media sources will be very important. DES (talk) 22:59, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
I can understand why this is the case, and looking back I am unlikely to find sufficient media sources outside of personal journalism, blogging or certain communities at this time. I am likely to wait until January time and see about an entry for the edugeek.net community instead once there is sufficient evidence. Obviously I am concerned about CoI for this and will take advice at a later date. Thank you both for your time on this.

questions

Hello Boricuaeddie

Your page is great...

I'm a journalist in London, UK, for The Observer writing a story about Wikipedia (I interviewed Jimmy Wales last week in NY) I wondered if I could ask you one or two questions about your involvement in the community:

such as:

How did you first get involved? which pages do you get most involved in (i noticed you did some editing on the madeleine mccann site for example)? I see you are from Puerto Rico, and in the 8th grade, do a lot of your friends wiki too? How long do yu spend working here? What do you enjoy most about it?

I've just set up a user page Timadams 14:41, 18 May 2007 (UTC)Timadams, or i'm on email tim.adams@observer.co.uk

keep up the good work!

Tim

Malexander, Annika Östberg, comparison

No, it was not 'incorrect information'. It was simply the truth, and you don't seem to be that well informed about the Malexander case.

3rr Warning

Actually I explained everything in the talk page a few months ago, there's nothing to explain, I'm just reverting the inflated sales that some users add even when I added source for the sales. Kraft. 00:14, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello, I just wanted to let you know that I reverted all that stuff according to the sources, those editors didn't even added a source, they just inflated the album sales. If I'm going to be blocked because of I did something good then what the hell is going on in this site? Kraft. 00:26, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Meditation

Hey. I got warned about a monuth ago, april 22,2007 by a person called Orange Mike. If you want to look back, it's number 15 on my talk page, or just look for Joe Lieberman. I've been checking up on his talk page now and again for a reason. he has been giving out very "not right" warnings. He has been requested for meditation once.(i am not sure of that, that is from a friend). To the point, I noticed you have talked to WJBscribe before. I believe i am going to request meditation myself. What do you think. Please respond on my talk, and maybe even look at Orange Mike's talk to!

Thanks,

Politics rule 22:41, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks. It does help. Looking back at him, besides meditation, what could be done?

Politics rule 23:21, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

  • Thank you. i will not remove other comments. You tips will help.

1983 Dallas Cowboys season

I'll be honest, I went by the assume good faith policy more then anything in that speedy overturn, seeing as how quickly the deletion took place. To point out, CSD A1 says that Limited content is not in itself a reason to delete if there is enough context for the article to qualify as a valid stub. I felt that the infobox was enough, albeit barely, to allow it to stand. Of course I was going to keep an eye on those, as I'm a sports article frequenter, and if they remained userboxes for a time all the seasons would have been gone. As for AI, yup, I probably violated policy, mainly the soapbox one, which is interesting considering I haven't watched the show. No excuse there though.--Wizardman 23:32, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Birthday Committee

I have a few questions. I noticed were the members are that there is the former leader, and the present leader. Have you ever talked to them? I ahev tried to communicate with them, but they have not responed. And 2, the Birthday Committee bullitien board has not been updated since Sptember 13,2006. I was wondering, is anyone allowed to add stuff.

I hope this reaches you in good health and good cheer,

Mediation

Hi Boricuaeddie. Thank you for your proposal for mediation. I will gladly accept it. Regards. PHG 04:03, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Tagging of Clive Aslet

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Clive Aslet. I do not think that Clive Aslet fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because being the editor of amajor magazine is a claim of notability. I ahve since expanded the article a bit. DES (talk) 22:14, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
