An afterhour club, in North America and Europe, in general refers to a nightclub which is open past the designated curfew for clubs which serve alcohol. Such clubs must cease serving alcohol at the designated time, but have special permission to remain open to customers and to sell non-alcoholic sodas and (typically) high-caffeine drinks.[citation needed] Afterhours clubs are popularly known as centers of third-party illegal drug trade, as well as other related insomniac or late-hour party activity. Such clubs can be found in many places but probably everywhere in Europe and North America on slightly different formulas.
