Zoo Tycoon 2: African Adventure is the second expansion pack for the video game Zoo Tycoon 2. African Adventure, as the name suggests, is Africa-themed. Developed by Blue Fang Games, work for the game began in early 2005 for a May 2006 release.
This expansion introduces 20 new animals, such as the meerkat and the pygmy hippo, and allows simple breeding between subspecies (the masai and reticulated giraffe). It also adds several maps based on African locations, such as the Sahara desert, Mount Kilimanjaro, the drakensberg, and the serengeti. Zoo Tycoon 2: African Adventure also introduces the Jeep Liberty, as well as including other Jeep vehicles from the previous expansion, Endangered Species. Another new feature is more realistic herding and predator/prey behaviors. African Adventure is the first expansion to include live food.

[edit] Reception
African Adventure did not do as well as its predescessors and future expansions, namely because, despite including more content and features, did not have any new gameplay features, like the Jeep and sky tram tours of Endangered Species and the marine element of Marine Mania.
X-Play rated African Adventure 2 stars out of 5.
