Usage
The {{AfricaProject}} project banner template should be added (not subst:ed) to the talk page of every article within the scope of the project. While the template does not require any additional parameters, it has a number of optional ones that add various extra features to the banner. The full syntax is as follows:
{{AfricaProject |small= |nested= |importance= (High, Mid, Low, NA) |class= (FA, A, GA, B, Start, Stub, List, Cat, or Template) |A-Class= |peer-review= |old-peer-review= |attention= <!-- Portals --> |portal1-name= |portal1-link= |portal2-name= |portal2-link= |portal3-name= |portal3-link= |portal4-name= |portal4-link= |portal5-name= |portal5-link= |portal6-name= |portal6-link= |portal7-name= |portal7-link= |portal8-name= |portal8-link= |portal9-name= |portal9-link= |portal10-name= |portal10-link= <!-- Task forces (North Africa) --> |Algeria= |Egypt= |Libya= |Madeira= |Morocoo= |Spanish Africa= |Sudan= |Tunisia= |Western Sahara= <!-- Task forces (Western Africa) --> |Benin= |Burkina Faso= |Cape Verde= |CI= |Gambia= |Ghana= |Guinea= |Guinea-Bissau= |Liberia= |Mali= |Mauritania= |Niger= |Nigeria= |Saint Helena= |Senegal= |Sierra Leone= |Togo= <!-- Task forces (Central Africa) --> |Angola= |Cameroon= |Central African Republic= |Chad= |Democratic Republic of the Congo= |Equatorial Guinea= |Gabon= |Republic of the Congo= |Sao Tome and Principe= <!-- Task forces (Eastern Africa) --> |Burundi= |Comoros= |Djibouti= |Eritrea= |Ethiopia= |French Africa= |Kenya= |Madagascar= |Malawi= |Mauritius= |Mozambique= |Rwanda= |Seychelles= |Somalia= |Tanzania= |Uganda= |Zambia= |Zimbabwe= <!-- Task forces (Southern Africa) --> |Botswana= |Lesotho= |Namibia= |South Africa= |Swaziland= <!-- Task forces (African history) --> |African MH= |African diaspora= |Ancient Egypt= |Egyptian religion= |Classical warfare MH= |Early Muslim MH= |Ottoman MH= |Ancient Near East= |Middle Eastern MH= |Assyria= <!-- WikiProject nation specific importance tags --> |Algeria-importance= |Egypt-importance= |Libya-importance= |Madeira-importance= |Morocco-importance= |Spanish Africa-importance= |Sudan-importance= |Tunisia-importance= |Western Sahara-importance= |Benin-importance= |Burkina Faso-importance= |Cape Verde-importance= |CI-importance= |Gambia-importance= |Guinea-importance= |Guinea-Bissau-importance= |Liberia-importance= |Mali-importance= |Mauritania-importance= |Niger-importance= |Nigeria-importance= |Saint Helena-importance= |Senegal-importance= |Sierra Leone-importance= |Togo-importance= |Angola-importance= |Cameroon-importance= |Central African Republic-importance= |Chad-importance= |Democratic Republic of the Congo-importance= |Equatorial Guinea-importance= |Gabon-importance= |Republic of the Congo-importance= |Sao Tome and Principe-importance= |Burundi-importance= |Comoros-importance= |Djibouti-importance= |Eritrea-importance= |Ethiopia-importance= |French Africa-importance= |Kenya-importance= |Madagascar-importance= |Malawi-importance= |Mauritius-importance= |Mozambique-importance= |Rwanda-importance= |Seychelles-importance= |Somalia-importance= |Tanzania-importance= |Uganda-importance= |Zambia-importance= |Zimbabwe-importance= |Botswana-importance= |Lesotho-importance= |Namibia-importance= |South Africa-importance= |Swaziland-importance= |African MH-importance= |African diaspora-importance= |Ancient Egypt-importance= |Egyptian religion-importance= |Classical warfare MH-importance= |Early Muslim MH-importance= |Ottoman MH-importance= |Ancient Near East-importance= |Middle Eastern MH-importance= |Assyria-importance= }}
General parameters:
- small – "yes" if the banner should be rendered in its miniature size; this should be used sparingly and only on crowded talk pages for the time being.
- nested – "yes" if the banner is being used in conjunction with {{WikiProjectBannerShell}}.
- class – a rating of the article's quality; see the assessment department for more details.
- auto – "yes" if the article has been automatically assessed; see the automation department for more details.
- A-Class – indicates the status of the article's A-Class review, if any; see the review department for more details.
- peer-review – "yes" if the article is currently listed for peer review by the project; see the review department for more details.
- old-peer-review – "yes" if the article was previously listed for peer review by the project; see the review department for more details.
- attention – "yes" if the article requires immediate attention; see Category:Africa articles needing attention for more details on when this should be used.
- portalX-name – if the article has been selected for use on a portal, the name of that portal. The name should be given without any formatting or namespace prefixes; thus, Portal:Africa is given as "|portal1-name=Africa". Up to ten different portals may be specified, via the parameters portal1-name through portal10-name.
- portalX-link – the portal subpage location where the article may be found on the corresponding portal. This should be given as a pure unlinked subpage name; thus, Portal:Africa/Selected event/3 is given as "|portal1-link=Selected event/3".

Importance parameters: Separate importance parameters have been established for each project which this banner is equipped to deal with, although at present it is not intended for use for any projects whose existence predates the creation of the majority of the national projects. Simply add the importance code listed in the chart above after any other codes, indicate the importance level, beginning the word with a capital letter, and the importance assessment will automatically be added. To avoid needlessly cluttering up talk pages, it is usually appropriate to remove any unused parameters from the template.
