The African Mole Rat (Cryptomys hottentotus) is a species of rodent in the Bathyergidae family. It is found in Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, subtropical or tropical dry lowland grassland, caves, pastureland, and rural gardens.
