Flunky (Born Arturo Roberto Fusco on April 20 1983 in Balboa, Panama) is one of the many unique underground triple threats of today. He currently lives in El Cajon, CA. in the San Diego County.
Artie, as most of his friends call him, had a regular childhood. The son of a Sailor, he moved to San Diego at the age of 1. During his youth, he was always one to imitate his favorite movies and cartoon characters. He went to Loma Verde Elementary from 1st to 6th grade, went to Castle Park Middle School from 7th to 8th grade, his parents divorced at this time. Then went to Castle Park High from 9th to 12th grade.
Flunky got his name in high school from the first play that he was in called "John Lennon and Me" about a girl who had cystic fibrosis, He played one of her imaginary friends named the Flunkies. Since then the name stuck. Flunky went on to do other plays such as "You Can't Take It With You", "Annie", and "Macbeth". In 2000 he opened the new year with his first album "Mutha Flunka" pretty much an experimental album. Though in 2001, four months before graduation, he was kicked out of his high school because of his lyrical content. He went on to graduate high school and went off to college.
During college he got into the Telemedia field he, along with his best friend Mike Robledo Created Flunky/Caveman Productions. Three films were made before, Flunky dropped out of an unsuccessful second semester in college. During this time Flunky started working at a local 7-11 and hanging out at a local gas station during the night shift where some of his other buddies worked. During this time, he started creating comics based on him and his friends. The scratchy stick figure art was called "Flunky/Caveman Comics" which later on became a book. Also during this time, his long time girlfriend, Heather Baxter, became pregnant. This prompted Flunky to marry Heather and join the US Navy. Before he left for boot camp though, he made his second album, "Music To Kill By"
Flunky flew to Great Lakes, IL. in January 7, 2003 to begin Naval Basic Training. Once he graduated basic training, he was sent to San Antonio TX. for Master-At-Arms 'A' School. During this time, on May 8th 2003, He flew back to San Diego for the birth of his first daughter, Chardonnay Levana Fusco, he then returned to San Antonio. After 'A' School, He was sent back to San Diego and was stationed in Naval Air Station North Island. While stationed there, Flunky participated in numerous special events and homecomings. Two examples include his involvement in commemoration of VJ day hosted by President George W. Bush, and in September 2005, after Hurricane Katrina hit, Flunky was sent to New Orleans to help out over there. Flunky described New Orleans by comparing it to the set of "Dawn of the Dead". He also came out with numerous albums and films including "Split", "B-Sides", "Music To Kill By Vol 2", and a poem book called "Know Me". He's opened his own personal website, which lasted 3 years, and his own online store. Finally, in June 9, 2006, Flunky was honorably discharged from the Navy.
On August 8, 2006 Heather gave birth to a second daughter, Desiree Lindsay Fusco, in San Diego, CA.
In January 2007 Flunky was hired by Viejas Enterprises to Provide security for their casino. He and his family subsequently moved to El Cajon, CA, east of San Diego.
Flunky and Heather, separated, pending divorce on July 5, 2007, on an announcement on his myspace, Flunky wrote, "In case you are wondering why the marital status is single now, it's because my significant other and I have decided to end our 7 Year relationship. Thank you." Not much else was put out until June 19, 2007, when Flunky released a personal single "Lost Myself", which reveals an angry and emotionally distraught Flunky, lashing out at his estranged wife for leaving him. Though praised by fans, Flunky has no further plans for the song, citing it as "The Only Song I Will Ever Write To Her."
He then moved on after the seperation and now he is currently with a new girl. Maryhis new gf now make music together, which you can find on Dmusic. Within the last few months he has improved drastically with his mental and physical health. His sister-in-law, Holly Baxter, and his brother-in-law Jacob Baxter have been there throughout the years and has helped him through his struggles, along with his current girlfriend.
Holly says when she was little, she wanted to kick him in de nuts.
