[edit] Expansion
In 2009, the league will be expanding with the introduction of the Gold Coast Football Club, as it recruits players and prepares for its debut season in the Australian Football League, possibly 2011.[2]
The AFL later announced talks with AFL Queensland on the possibility admitting a Northern Territory side to be based out of Darwin or Alice Springs into the Queensland State League[3], although it is likely that either the SANFL or WAFL will instead admit the new club.
