[edit] Representative teams

The regions representative team originally had colours that consisted of Yellow, Black and White, and were known as the TAIPANS, until the reconfiguration of the AFL Queensland. In the mix up another representative team closer to Brisbane was given the nickname Taipans, this forced the AFL Capricornia to choose a different identity. It has been a hard decision, but it has been one that people are starting to accept. A new era started for the region so a new entity had to emerge, there colours were changed to Dark Blue, and White, and eventually they will choose a new logo, insignia.

[edit] History

The league began in the late 1960s, as the Rockhampton Football Association or more commonly known as the Rockhampton Aussie Rules League, there were four teams who started the original League Parkhurst, Wandal, Parkana and Gladstone but it was only in its infancy and was not recognised by any other competition until 1972 when it changed it's name and became Rockhampton Australian Football Association with clubs playing in Rockhampton, Gladstone, Biloela and Blackwater. At one stage AFL Capricornia had a nine team competition. The RAFA again changed it's name from Rockhampton to Capricornia then a few years later dropped the "Association" to "League" moniker, but it was CAFL the Capricornia AFL. With the recent takeover of most leagues throughout Australia by the AFL it is now known as Australian Football League Capricornia. (AFL Capricornia)
