Afghanada

Afghanada is an award-winning Canadian radio drama series, currently airing on CBC Radio One.

Three Canadian soldiers have been shipped out to Afghanistan and are based deep in the heart of the conflict: Kandahar Province, where the Taliban insurgency is fiercest. Every day, Canadian soldiers on the ground confront the chaos and violence of life "outside the wire". They don’t have the big picture; they’re not interested in the policy. They’re just trying to help the people, protect each other...and survive.[1]

The first 22 episodes of Afghanada aired from November 3, 2006 to April 6, 2007. These episodes were rebroadcast in August 2007. CBC has since ordered a second season. Seventeen new episodes began airing on CBC Radio 1 on September 5, 2007. The program is currently broadcast Wednesdays from 11:05 p.m.-11:30 p.m., and Fridays from 11:35 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Afghanada was created by Andrew Moodie, Greg Nelson, Adam Pettle and Jason Sherman. Other writers contributing to the series are Paul Aitken, Hannah Moscovitch, Emil Sher, Bobbie Theodore, and Greg Spottiswood. The executive producer of Season One was James Roy. The producer of Season Two was Bev Cooper.
