[edit] Welcome!

Hi, Af895, Welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page.

[edit] Additional tips

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
  • You may want to read Wikipedia:Avoiding common mistakes
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.

[edit] Folding bicycle

Thanks for your contributions to folding bicycle. Could you make a montage of different stages of folding and upload it here or to commons? Image:Bus foldingbike montage.jpg doesn't give much detail of the process. --Christopherlin 22:48, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

REPLY: I'm not sure if I'm replying in the correct place but hopefully you'll see this addition. (this is nothing like any threaded discussion I've ever used before ;)

I'll get some picture of the KHS folder in various stages and upload them within a couple of weeks.

I also know a Brompton owner who would likely be able to contribute some picture of that folding process as it's much different. --C.J. 17:47, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

Oops, just now seeing your reply as I was about to ask you about something else.
If you haven't already read them, Talk pages and Talk page guidelines cover that. Briefly: Replies are below, indented with colons (:). One for the first level of reply, two for the next and so forth. With user talk pages, there is a post new comment link, marked by a + in the default skin. How to keep a two-way conversation readable has several methods for that.
About Image:Bike-overlay-400.jpg, where did you find it? I noticed you uploaded it with one (non-)license, and then removed the notice. Wikipedia has image and licencing restrictions. In short, free images are easier than non-free. Non-free, that is, copyrighted, can be used under fair use. That's the gist of it, but please do check Image use policy. Basically, I'd rather not see it deleted for no good reason without being replaced by something Wikipedia can use. It conveys important information.
There was a folding sequence on the Wikimedia Commons under Commons:Category:Cycling or somewhere under there, so you need not worry about that. It's been incorporated into the article, at least somewhat. --Christopherlin 04:22, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Howdy again! I just replaced the Xootr Swift image (the overlay on the convetional bike) with one of my own creation. The Swift overlay was from a website featuring that bike; just to be lily-white and pure, I put the new one up. :)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Bike-overlay-400.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Bike-overlay-400.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Dethomas 01:36, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Bus foldingbike montage.jpg

Could you tag Image:Bus foldingbike montage.jpg with an appropriate image tag from Category:Image copyright tags to keep it from being deleted? Thanks. --Christopherlin 15:40, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
