On a far more sane note, what about the Aeolus in the Aeneid who is bribed by Juno with Deiopea, a beautiful nymph, to wreak havoc upon the fleeing Trojans (Aeneid, Book I, lines 64-75)

What is the basis for the assumption that Astraeus and Aeolus are identical? They're certainly similar in several ways, but most sites don't confuse the two: theoi.com has distinct pages for Astraois, a planetary god and the father of the Winds, and Aiolos, a storm god and the keeper of the Winds. Also a matter of concern is the very weak distinction this page makes between the different people named Aiolus, but I'm more immediately concerned with whether or not Astraeus and Aeolus are truly the same individual, since the other matter will be pretty easy to fix. In Euripides's Ion, Aeolus is referred to as the son of Zeus and the husband of Creusa, the daughter of Erechtheus. Just wondering how this fits in with the other interpretations of Aeolus.
