Aeolia Schenberg (イオリア・シュヘンベルグ?) is a fictional character of the anime series, Mobile Suit Gundam 00. A historical figure head who has recruited many scientists & formed a private arms intervention group, Celestial Being.
He is voiced by Chikao Ōtsuka.[1]
The name Schenberg may be a reference to the Brazilian electrical engineer and physicist Mário Schenberg. His historical significance bears a resemblance to that of the Russian rocket scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, the real-world originator of the orbital elevator concept.
[edit] Outline
Schenberg made his first appearance in Episode 1 when he announced in a video message the existence of an organization known as Celestial Being, an arms intervention group dedicating itself to rid the world of conflict.
This caught the attention of a reporter, Kinue Crossroad, who reserched him and wondered if the group had another agenda besides ridding the world of conflicts, and had also caught the attention of scientist, Reiph Eifman, who was reserching on the GN Particles, which were made in Jupiter and made a major revelation about Celestial Being and the true intentions of Aeolia Schenberg.
In episode 22, he was shot by Alejandro Corner while in his cryogenically frozen state, but this caused the activation of the Trans-AM system. In his final video message he entrusted his legacy and ideals to the Gundam Meisters along with his blessings to them, requesting them to use the full power of the GN Drives along with their Gundams.
[edit] History
An academic born in 2051 known to have made significant contributions in the areas of physics and engineering; believed to be the founder of the private paramilitary organization Celestial Being, which pursues the complete eradication of armed conflict. Of the few manuscripts of his still in print as of the beginning of the 24th century, the most notable is a 2090 dissertation describing a potential solution to the global fuel crisis — the theoretical basis of the combined orbital elevator and photovoltaics energy system, the construction and defense of which he foresaw to employ humanoid machines not unlike mobile suits.
As the level of technology available at the time of publication was insufficiently advanced to realize the project, his views received little public attention. Following 2101, he is said to have dedicated himself to the advancement of space colonization, and is thought to have eventually died off-planet. In 2307, at the initiation of Celestial Being's aggressive military intervention, he appeared in a worldwide broadcast announcing the existence and intentions of the organization.
His body was found to be on the Moon, held in cryogenic stasis within Veda, intending to awaken when the world is rid of conflict. However, soon after this discovery, Alejandro Corner shot him. He is confirmed to be dead as he was shot at the head by Alejandro. The shooting caused the activation of the Trans-Am systems of the four original Gundams.
