Italian, male, born on 1 March. Now student of what used to be Natural Sciences at the University of Padua (in the Italian tradition Natural Sciences is a synonym of Natural History). Due to my studies and my personal interest I have some knowledge about botany, zoology and, to a minor extent, geology.
[edit] Interests
I'm a plant collector and have put together a fairly large herbarium. I plan to upload some pictures of my specimena and maybe some stereomicroscope photos. I'm studying lichens for my academic thesis. I also have a small mineral collection and I'm starting to explore systematic entomology.
Interested in Free software and Open Source, I use SuSE Linux since four years. Not having studied computer science at school at any level and not spending most of my life in front of a screen, I am the living evidence that Linux is now easy enough for everyone and not only for geeks.
[edit] Wikipedia
I am currently more or less active in en.wikipedia, it.wikipedia, vec.wikipedia and commons. I really love to look at user pages to know more about the other wikipedians I deal with, this is the reason why mine is a bit too long.
At present:
- I'm waiting for feedback about:
- I'm helping to make improvements to Pollen.
- I'm editing some plant family articles.
[edit] Languages
I'm also interested in languages, although unfortunately I know few and I'm basically unable to write or speak proper English (someone said: [my English is] understandable, although some awkward word choices). A conlanger since the age of 12, I've been working for seven years on Nawrean, a personal language. Active in trying to preserve from extinction the venetian language, one of my mother tongues (with Italian), but not sharing the political views of most people who defend their traditions here in northern Italy. In fact I feel Italian and I'm strongly europeanist. This is one more reason to keep trying to write and speak British English (this is difficult) and to cultivate a British pronunciation, which I was said I have by an older lady from Portsmouth I met on the way back from Venice, to my greatest satisfaction ;-).
