- Elementary School at the Emil-Gött-Grundschule in Zähringen
- Droste-Hülshoff-Gymnasium in Herdern
- started Chemistry studies at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg
- worked as a student employee doing Unix system administration at the CS department and the
- Institute for Medical Biometry and Medical Computer Sciences
- aborted the Chemistry studies and moved on to study computer sciences at the Hochschule Furtwangen University.
- graduated with a Diplom-Informatiker (FH) degree in autumn 1998
