[edit] User:Adwriter
A tag has been placed on on your user page, User:Adwriter, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages: user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam and the guidelines on user pages.
If you can indicate why the page is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page in question and leave a note on this page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Calton | Talk 13:08, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] This page is not advertising or spam, it is 'about' Advertising
I am a new user to Wikipedia - I just signed up yesterday and am still just learning the ropes, so to speak. I seem to have made a mistake along the way as this page has already been marked for deletion for 'advertising' - but Advertising is my area of specialist interest and expertise (perhaps I have not chosen a suitable user name and this has attracted this unwanted early attention?). Even a quick read of the content of my page should clearly demonstrate that it is not "blatant advertising".
Indeed, I was prompted to join as a Wikipedia content contributor after trying to do a little Wiki research yesterday and discovering how little informative content is here on the advertising industry. Much of the content that is in Wikipedia is out of date (I made an update yesterday under M&C Saatchi to correct a blatantly wrong assertion) and there is virtually nothing on the current wave of independent, creative advertising businesses that have proliferated globally since 2000 and are currently changing the face of the advertising industry (such as the business I am currently researching on my page). This niche is my particular area of interest.
Without any coverage of these new advertising pioneers in Wikipedia (and better coverage of the established advertising agencies who preceded them), Wikipedia is next to useless for any enquirer seeking to learn more about the advertising industry today. As a final point, I am currently just using my page as a Sandbox (as per the instructions I read on the site yesterday) while i try to properly reference and develop my content - I was not aware that in doing this I could still be marked for deletion? I have removed the previous 'work in progress' content for now (as I do not want my work to date to be deleted) and have included some other work in progress as an example of the content I am developing. --Adwriter (talk) 23:32, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
- The problem is that you put the article as your userpage. Create an article under the title Strawberry Frog, copy/paste over what is on your userpage, and please erase all the article-like text on the page, although you can have stuff about you as an editor and useful links (for example, the sandbox link that you have up already) remaining on the page.
