Advertising board

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An advertising board, or A-board, is usually a term reserved for the advertising hoardings seen at football (soccer) matches, although there are other more general forms such as billboards and posters.

Advertising boards first appeared around football stadiums in the 1980s after the influence of on-shirt advertising, and are now commonplace in professional football grounds.

They are a source of humour when a player shoots for goal and misses the target but hits the advertising boards instead, sometimes knocking them over.
