Adventures of Don Quixote (film)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adventures of Don Quixote (1933) is a film adaptation of the classic Miguel Cervantes novel, directed by Georg Wilhelm Pabst, starring the famous operatic bass Feodor Chaliapin. The supporting cast includes George Robey, René Donnio, Renée Valliers, and Emily Fitzroy. The film was made in three versions: French, English, and German. Maurice Ravel was to have written the musical score, but health problems limited him to only completing three songs (which Ravel orchestrated and published separately) and Jacques Ibert wrote the actual score for the film. EMI released excerpts from the soundtrack of the French version on 78-rpm and LP discs.[1] The French and English versions were released on DVD on May 30, 2006, by Video Artists International.[2]
