[edit] Wells Fargo
I pulled this paragraph
- ADT has a tradition of buying out smaller companies to gain their contracts, one notable example is Wells Fargo. ADT's main competitor for Wells Fargo business is Videotronix Inc. a Twin Cities Based Security System Integrator. It is important to note that Wells Fargo maintains its own central station monitoring service and that ADT does virtually none of the service for these alarms in the midwest.
I'm not sure what it's point is now. Wells Fargo is no longer in the home security business. Americasroof 14:29, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- I should also add that ADT bought the Wells Fargo security business in 1999. I suppose that should be in the article. Americasroof 14:43, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
---TYCO OWNERSHIP I think Tyco sold them off. We should check that.
- ADT is definitely still owned by Tyco.

I really believe that this page should include info about the murders of Teri Lee and her boyfriend. Teri bought a $2,500 system from ADT to protect her from her ex-boyfriend, and it failed on multiple levels. And it should be noted that even though the system failed and basically allowed the murders to happen, ADT has something in their contract that they are only liable for $500. Teri's family is suing. I'm not really sure how to edit, so I just want to put that out there. Angryapathy (talk) 15:51, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
It should be mentioned that a burglar alarm will act as a deterrant, and cannot in anyway guarentee that a crime will not happen! If a bad guy wants to run through a front door despite the alarm setting off, he is going to do that if he/she wants to.
Secondly, All murderers work or have worked somewhere, right? I don't think it is responsible to make a case that ADT was at faut for this. dewey —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.252.85.233 (talk) 23:11, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] BTK Killer
I think this article should mention that the BTK serial killer (Dennis Radar) worked at ADT Securtiy for over 11 years during his killing spree. He found information about all his murder victums through his access to ADT records. It could be said that ADT company could never have known that Dennis Radar was a psychotic killer... but STILL, if I can't count on Wikipedia to bring me these sorts of unbiased facts, then where would I get them?? We had ADT service for 2 years before I see some show on A&E that was about BTK and said he used his job at ADT to gather information on his victums (not to mention knownledge to defeat the security system). So I think everyone looking for information on ADT deserves to know this black part of the history at their company... not this article which as mentioned above, seems more like a PR page. any menation of Raders ADT employment should be on his article, not on the ADT one, And it should not be in the main body of the article, under the "australia" heading so I removed it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.145.186.201 (talk) 20:33, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
I just put a mention of Rader in "See Also". It doesn't need to be in the main body of the article, but I think it needs to be there somewhere. Dan (talk) 20:58, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Major Neutrality/Quality Issues
So I believe this article was tagged quite a while ago for various reasons and thought I would take a moment to recap and comment on some of the things I have noticed and what others have brought up.
1) Tone. This has been improved slightly as of late but agree the majority still reads like it was pulled from the company's pr file.
2) Sources. Three in-lines only, two of them are from ADT's website and one actual neutral.
3) Structure. History is at the bottom, two versions of an overview and headings for practically every other sentence. Seems like a major re-work would be in order here.
Just thought I'd put the call out, if anyone has some neutral sources by all means bring it, until then fair warning as it is right now a lot of this uncited non-npov stuff will probably be sacrificed for the sake of trying to make some improvements. Tmore3 (talk) 05:42, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
