An AdToon is an advertisement combined with a cartoon to promote a business. The AdToon was Inspired by Charles Atlas' ad for the fitness product Dynamic Tension. This featured a cartoon strip - where Mac was bullied on the beach in front of his girlfriend - as an advertisement for the product.
Unrelated to Atlas's success, cartoons became prevalent in many direct response marketing style ads seen in the back of magazines in the 50's and 60's.
The idea for an AdToon was created by Vince Palko who is the author of the book, The Art of Selling Using Cartoons [1]. And the first AdToon strip was created in 2005 for Matt Furey's Combat Conditioning course.
Currently, AdToons transforms business owners into superhero's to add personality to a marketing campaign. Prospects and clients identify with the cartoons as they are unique and different - and connect with the viewer better than just a logo.
AdToons have been featured in such books as Dan Kennedy's new release, "No BS Guide to Ruthless Management of People and Profits." http://www.nobsbooks.com/
