[edit] GA review

Reasonably comprehensive, however the article needs a thorough copy-edit:

  • "was a First-class cricketer for at Hampshire" - grammar needs fixing and spell out Hampshire County Cricket Club
  • wikilink wicket-keeper
  • "First-class cricket" - needs replacing throughout the article with "first-class cricket"
  • "His dual interest - perhaps "His interest in both cricket and football"
  • Should Fleet Town be Fleet Town F.C.
  • Aymes attended Bellemoor School, during which time, aged 11, he began playing for local village side, Hursley Park. - Choppy, consider "Aymes attended Bellemoor School and began playing for local village side, Hursley Park aged 11. This also needs citing.
  • No need to be so specific on the date of his second XI debut, month and year sufficient.
  • Suggest splitting the second XI debut sentence into two; one on his selection in the team, the next on his contribution.
  • "contributing to" - consider making five dismissals.
  • numbers under ten are generally spelt out.
  • "came against Surrey - suggest "was against Surrey"
  • "which was played in the middle of the first-class fixture" - suggest removing "which was"
  • wikilink Sri Lankans
  • wikilink County Championship
  • "Aymes was a technically-correct batsman that prized himself on not giving his wickets away, and was often required to shore up batting inadequacies in the side" - needs a cite
  • "Hampshire struggled in their two seasons in Division 1 (in 2000 and 2000); this unfortunately coincided with Aymes' hand and knee injuries." needs a cite
  • "Aymes was regarded as the best wicketkeeper in the County Championship, being equally adept at standing back to the West Indies fast bowler Malcolm Marshall and standing up to the leg spin of Shane Warne" - needs a cite and explanation of who regarded him as the best wicket-keeper
  • use "wicket-keeper" consistently throughout the article rather that "wicketkeeper" or "'keeper"
  • link to Benefit (sports) in benefit year
  • Hambledon links to a disambiguation page - select the appropriate article from that page.
  • spell out ECB in full and link to England and Wales Cricket Board
  • "Hursley" - should this be "Hurley"?
  • Is there a suitable category or categories for his football career?

Have a go at fixing these and let me know when you are done or if you have any questions. I will say that there will probably be more to do after these have been done before I will pass the article. Good luck. -- Mattinbgn\talk 12:20, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Many Thanks. I've addressed the above, and will copyedit tomorrow, when I'm more awake. The three citations regarding technical correctness, the injuries, and the best keeper in the Championship are all taken from one paragraph. This paragraph is paraphrased from the reference given at the end of the paragraph. I was under the impression that this was acceptable citing. If not, I will add the reference after every sentence, but seems a bit silly. Haven't looked for football categories, there probably are some! BTW (Hursley is correct, have corrected and wikilinked). –MDCollins (talk) 23:49, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
At the end of the paragraph is fine; I should have taken a closer look at the cited page. -- Mattinbgn\talk 23:52, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
For now I'm going to fail it, only since it's been two weeks and nothing's been done. Holds should only be up a week. When the above is done feel free to renominate. Wizardman 00:31, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Football career

You might find that someone on WikiProject Football or more specifically the sub-project on Non-league football could help you with a footy infobox and stats for the last section. Nanonic (talk) 00:42, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
