Adrienne Ryan

Adrienne Ryan is a current Councillor and the former Mayor of Ku-ring-gai Council in Sydney, New South Wales. She was also married to, and now divorced from former Commissioner of the New South Wales Police Peter Ryan. Originally from Yorkshire in the United Kingdom, Adrienne Ryan moved to Sydney in 1997 after her husband became the New South Wales Police Commissioner. Prior to coming to Australia, Adrienne Ryan was also a police officer for a period of time, being involved in the Brixton Riots and Notting Hill race riots in the 1980s. Adrienne Ryan has an honours degree in politics and international relations from Reading University in the United Kingdom. She has also published a book called 'A Silent Love' about stillborn children. In May 2005, Adrienne Ryan moved to the Sydney suburb of Wahroonga after her divorce.
