Adrian Wewer

Adrian Wewer (April 14, 1836 - March 15, 1914) was a Franciscan monk who was the architect of more than 100 churches, college buildings, seminaries, schools, friaries, convents, and hospitals throughout the United States.

His most notable structures are the Conception Abbey in Conception, Missouri and Francis Hall at Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois.

Wewer christened Antonius Wewer was born in Harsewinkel, Germany and entered the Franciscan order in Warendorf in 1858.

In 1862 he was sent to Teutopolis, Illinois to assist with projects in the German-Catholic communities in Missouri and Illinois. He was to be based at St. Anthony of Padua in St. Louis, Missouri.
