Adrian Steinway

Adrian Steinway (born October 19, 1978 in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil) is an award winning Brazilian actor who has performed on Broadway.

His father is Chan Cheng Yei, a Taiwanese naturalized American in 1955 and his mother is Ana Steinway Muraro, a milan native who was brought up in Brazil. At age 15, in 1994, he completed his studies in the Conservatorio Olandesse Musicale di Roma and had his debut in the Concertgebouw. His performance was considered one of the finest executions of Rimski Korsakov's Scherazade.

He got signed at PWC Agency and started to run a successful international career that was abruptly interrupted by his grandmother's suicide in their apartment in New York. Since then, his appearances in the musical world have been rare.

In 2000, Mr. Steinway earned his BA in English, Portuguese and Latin at UNESP. In 2003, he obtained his MFA in the New York University in Acting. He starred in the Phantom of the Opera as Raul on Broadway, and many other plays. He was awarded by the International Critics Association as Best Actor for his permormance in SAMSARA! in 2006. He moved back to Brazil and became a theatre director. His first work was Pasargada!, starring Gustavo Malafaya and Fabio Costa. It was a play with poems by Manuel Bandeira with participaions of Marília Pêra, Renata Pallottini, Antonio Abujamra, Elisa Lucinda and Paulo Autran. After that, he directed a comedy written by Sandra Falcone, with Nicolau Puig, Simone Sanguiné, Gisele Lourenço and Gustavo Malafaya. He also written in the meantime the show "Nas Asas da Borboleta", directed by Jarbas Homem de Mello, starring Betty Faria, Bianca Rinaldi, Sara Sarres, Virginia Nowicki, Juan Alba, totia Meirelles, Vanessa Gerbelli and Cininha de Paula.

He has been cast to perform in the TV series Helen's Children opposite Emma Thompson as well as the film The Survivor, with Glenn Close and Meryl Streep.

His movies credits include: Cana Amarga, Para que servem os anjos (Sergio Motta Award).
