Adrian Charles Buckmaster was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England. He graduated from Clare College, Cambridge, England, in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and in 1974 with a Master of Arts.

Adrian Buckmaster has been Chief Executive Officer of Avecia Group plc since October 2005 and also serves as Chief Executive Officer of Automotive Products Group Ltd. Lord Buckmaster has been Director of Avecia Group PLC since May 2006. He also serves as Director of Avecia Holdings Plc.[3]
