Adrián López Álvarez, simply known as Adrián (born January 8, 1988 in San Martín de Teverga, Asturias) is a professional footballer who currently plays as a forward for Deportivo Alavés in the Segunda División, on loan from Deportivo de La Coruña.
A product of Real Oviedo's youth system, he quickly made the transition into Oviedo’s first squad, scoring twice in 26 matches, while playing in the Segunda División B (third-tier level).
However, Adrián didn’t have a professional contract because he was a youth player, and the only way to acquire his services for free was to offer him a professional contract. Deportivo La Coruña obliged and, in October 2006 Oviedo were given a €330.000 compensation.
His finest moment of the 2006–07 season arrived when, on March 31, 2007 he entered Depor’s league match in the Nou Camp in the 61st minute. Although FC Barcelona won it 2–1, Adrián scored with a clever touch.
After receiving few first team opportunities during 2007–08, Adrián was loaned to second division strugglers of Deportivo Alavés, on March 2008.
Internationally, Adrián scored a hat-trick on July 7, in the final game of group play against Jordan, in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada, with all three goals coming in a span of 10 minutes late in the first half.
