  • {{Adopting}} used by experienced user who wants to Adopt a new user.


  • {{Adoption backlog}} displays current number of users seeking adoption and turns red/orange when the number exceeds 15.


The following code can be used by an experienced user to easily provide information at Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User/Adoptee's Area/Adopters. Add it right before the last line of the table ( |} ):

  • {{AdopterRow|user=Adopter's Username|admin=Is the Adopter an admin? Yes/No|status=Who, if anyone, is the Adopter currently adopting|involvement=Where on Wikipedia is the Adopter most involved|notes=Any special notes, e.g. about the Adopter's availability}}

This will add your information to the current table, which looks like this:

Your adoptee has asked you a question and you do not have a clue where to begin. Some of these links may help:

  1. Help:Contents contains many useful links, which you may want to bring to your adoptee's attention to help get them started.
  2. A good place to start is the Help desk and its FAQ on how to use Wikipedia and the Reference desk for general knowledge questions.
  3. Help:Contents/Policies and guidelines
  4. Impress your adoptee with some fancy tools.
  5. And if all else fails ask a question at Adopt-a-User, Help desk or by using the helpme template.
  6. Some users set their adoptees tasks to help them learn now to use Wikipedia better. You can find an example of this here.

Hopefully you will never need to access the links below, but if an adoptee does something inappropriate, those links may be useful:
