DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES MOVE THE SANDBOX. IT IS VANDALISM IN THE EXTREME.--Honeycake 18:29, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Hi Adoph and Welcome to Wikipedia. I am an admin on this site, and so if you need any help feel free to ask me on my talk page. I'd also like to point out that Gabriel's message is atypical, most people here are very friendly to newbies. To answer your question, to test the page move feature, you should probably try thetest wiki. Theresa Knott (Tart, knees hot) 15:09, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- In reply to my message, I have to agree with Theresa Knott about using the test-wiki, however, it's not a matter of being unfriendly to newbies. I didn't even bother to check if you were a newbie: ifyou were an administrator I'd have done the same. Moving one of the most-edited pages on the encyclopedia is obviously not the right thing to do, and I think you are experienced enough on the Wiki to see that: you knew very well how to find my edit summary, so you obviously know a bit. Maybe vandalism wasn't the right term, but it definitely was not right.--Honeycake 16:46, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
The other thing is that for a sysop to undo that, we have to perform a history merge, which on a page with that many old versions makes the site very slow for everyone for several minutes. Pakaran (ark a pan) 17:43, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Tests: Doubts? Just ask first
A good way to test? Make a new page and move that, then post a request to delete the page. Surely a moment's thought would lead one to the realization that moving an important page such as the Sandbox is not a good idea. If you ever have the slightest doubt about attempting an experiment, ask first! Hu 17:58, 2004 Nov 19 (UTC).
