[edit] Unblock
I was only trying to add updating page from Meta to Help:Edit summary [1]. Please unblock. -- ADNghiem501 20:50, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
In addition, I was going to restore interwikis to that page. I didn't vandalise that page. Sorry. -- ADNghiem501 20:53, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
See [2] at Meta. The latest update was edited by Locke Cole. -- ADNghiem501 21:19, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
You were blocked by Curps for the following reason (see our blocking policy): "Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by "ADNghiem501". The reason given for ADNghiem501's block is: "vandalism"."
Your IP address is 4.246.24.108.
- I agree; I couldn't find any vandalism by this account, so I've unblocked you. User:dbenbenn 16:40, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
Sorry about the block, it shouldn't have happened, you did remove interwiki links in that edit but it shouldn't have resulted in a block. -- Curps 17:29, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Copied from User talk:Curps#Unblocked User:ADNghiem501:
You blocked User:ADNghiem501 yesterday, citing "vandalism". That appears to be a mistake; I couldn't find any vandalism. The user asked me to unblock, so I did. Just thought you'd want to know (in case there's something I missed). User:dbenbenn 16:44, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
- Looks like that was a mistake, related to his Help:Edit summary edit which removed interwiki links. [3] -- Curps 17:29, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
-
- I only replaced with the latest content which I took a copy from Meta. When I deleted the previous content before this, the interwikis were removed and I was going to restore them immediately. It's a waste of my time for 1 day since you blocked me. During the block I couldn't edit anything except my own talk page. Note I sent you an e-mail yesterday, but later, I contact User:dbenbenn at the Wikimedia Commons regarding this subject above. -- ADNghiem501 17:39, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Deleting inappropriate usernames
I've noticed you removed my CSD from 5 users' namespace pages, whose names are inappropriate or offensive, including libels, but not too similar to existing user(s). Users for having inappropriate usernames often have no edit contribs and deliberately have chosen to attack other editors rather than to disparage them. Some redlinked usernames like these have not been tagged. It's better to delete such usernames, since I see User:Pathoschild has deleted them alot. See his deletion log. I just wanted to inform you that I'm desiring to put them for speedy deletion. But why are there no reasons to delete them? -- ADNghiem501 08:15, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
- I removed the tag because, for one, it is not a WP:CSD. Also, just deleting the userpage won't do anything to the account; the account will still exist (and if the account were deleted, which is a very hard thing to do in itself, it would actually just open that username up to being created by some vandal again). The users are blocked on sight anyway. While Pathoschild does delete them (with WP:DENY), most admins do not, and putting them in CAT:CSD just clogs it up. --Rory096 08:29, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
- Indeed, the category is for pages matching the official criteria for speedy deletion; DenyRecognition is not such a criteria. // [admin] Pathoschild (talk/map) 01:58, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] your "leave the picture alone"
right on! DyslexicEditor 08:46, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
- You're not an admin, so I'm questioning you- Why should that WoW-related image stay on Jimbo's page? Why would that NOT be vandalism? --Shultz IV 14:05, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
-
- See according to DyslexicEditor, the image was there for a long time. Its removal is vandalism and you have NO right to take something off other people's pages. If they aren't admins, they have the right to do something that is mistaken and not meant to be vandalism. -- ADNghiem501 23:32, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Template:-
I see you are fixing a lot of user pages with this template. It doesn't matter to me, but I am curious why this formatting fix matters to you? And why not subst: it? (Respond here so others can see your answers too) NoSeptember talk 01:36, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I'll use subst: instead of {{-}}. Is this way going to work anyway? -- ADNghiem501 01:41, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- {{subst:-}} should work fine. The real question is why the compelling need to fix these pages, it makes the page take up more space visually and these users could do the fix if they preferred it. NoSeptember talk 01:50, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Help:Edit summary
Hi. The text at the bottom of all pages coming from Meta says quite clearly "You are welcome to copy the exact wikitext from the master page at Meta and paste it into this page at any time". It also says "Copies of this page on other projects, for other languages see Meta".
The text is designed to be an exact copy, so users (and bots) can easily copy and paste the text without having to worry about making changes specifically for their project. There are two templates associated with these pages, which automatically display when the page is viewed. Template:Ph:Edit summary is the main one for the edit summary page. I will paste the links there, surrounded by <includeonly> tags. If this doesn't work I will delete them, based on the fact Help:Edit summary is meant to be an exact copy and links to other languages exist on Meta. Thanks. -- Gareth Aus 05:46, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well it works. If you intend to create interlanguage links, please use the templates (with <includeonly> tags) in the future. Thanks. -- Gareth Aus 05:56, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Don't subst Template:WoW
Thanks for the note; my more recent catches have not included "subst" but I knew some earlier ones probably did. Anyway, can you find where the old category was tagged for deletion? I've looked through the CFD archives and I must have missed it. RadioKirk (u|t|c) 13:40, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your old userpage
Why not redirect it to here? -- 69.145.123.171 Hello! Thursday, June 22, 2006, 20:30 (UTC)
- Leave it the way it is. I like it. My old account is inactive, so I don't include my e-mail address on it anymore. And I can't send a password to my e-mail inbox either. I made a password complicated so that I won't remember it. Thanks. -- ADNghiem501 21:47, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fill Your Heart
Wow, that was a masterpiece of linking.
At this point I am more interested in getting rid of the vandal than the vandalism (which can always be corrected later). The best way to make him go away is to shut him away from the only article he cares about. However, since two of you have pointed it out, I've reverted the song article back to the last non-vandal version. Thanks again for your help. -Will Beback 09:27, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

You're correct; I did not make the account or "contribute" therefrom. You'll also notice certain errors in language common with that editor that I would never make. ;) RadioKirk (u|t|c) 12:57, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict)All contributions of the impersonator consists of "Nanook/Nookdog rules! ~~~~". What does this mean? Who stole your username? His account was indefinitely blocked and all his edits were thoroughly reverted by User:Jon Harald Søby at Wikispecies. I posted a note on the impostor's userpage there. By the way, I have your userpage on my watchlist that your edit summary says "add disclaimer", given explanation of your username there doesn't belong to you. -- ADNghiem501 00:07, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

"Is there a reason why you unblocked him if you feel the block is inappropriate?" Well, yeah, specifically, I felt the block was inappropriate. Ashibaka tock 23:54, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I think he's been blocked several times for disruption. I was unaware of why he was trying to contact me via e-mail, however if I didn't get in touch with his edits at Template:UsernameBlocked. I never tried to inform others about this consequence. You might want to leave me a more explanation here that I don't interfere him. -- ADNghiem501 00:33, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User:BetacommandBot
reguarding the edit summary i was subst'ing templates with AWB and some of those templates had usernames for a required field of the template. instead of worring about how to incorperate the username into the change ie {{imposter|Willy on Wheels}} to {{subst:imposter|Willy on Wheels}} i just left the |username}} alone and edited the first part the edit summary like
- {{impostor-m => {{subst:Impostor-m
- {{attackuser-m => {{subst:attackuser-m
was automaticly created by AWB because i was using the find and replace for the first part of the template code to avoid the issues with the username. hope this takes care of your concern. Betacommand 04:09, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Would the edit summaries be better like:
-
{{impostor-m... => {{subst:Impostor-m...
{{attackuser-m... => {{subst:Attackuser-m...
- in case they are thought to be missing }} rather than remaining part of your edit summaries above which don't include |username}}? -- ADNghiem501 05:00, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
that cant be done the summary is auto created from my find and replace code Betacommand 05:10, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] My Bot
thanks for catching it there is no need to ever block my bot because as soon as there is a message on its talk page it automaticly stops untill i review it. if there is anything i can do for you let me know, or if you have sugestions dont hesatate to let me know. Thanks Betacommand 07:31, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- How is the bot able to stop editing? I don't know whatever an action it can stop anytime. Or, do Makemi and I leave a message on the talk page that causes it stop running? -- ADNghiem501 07:42, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Erik Christy Sutherland
In regards to your change of the speedy template on Erik Christy Sutherland: This is a reposting of an article named Ecs999 which was also speedied and protected. . Both articles were created by the now indefinitely blocked User:Southgate21. The reason for the users block was it was being used as a vandalism-only account. Thus this page is eligible for speedy deletion. I have reverted to the speedy template. Please feel free to contact me on my talk page if you have any questions or comments. Cheers! --omtay38 05:11, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi, RfA's shouldn't be listed at the main page until the nominated user has accepted the nomination (and often, aren't moved over until they have had time to finish answering the basic questions also). Yes, he does that a lot. A lot of his typical behavior is written up at WP:NCV. I must have blocked a couple hundred of his sockpuppets in the last year or so. Funny thing is, if he'd just be a good editor, I'd leave him alone, but he can never go on for long without turning into a revert warrior and vandal again. [edit] Dumbass
I thought I'd ask you whether there is any history behind this vandalism-prone, "soft redirect" to Wiktionary before nominating it for deletion. There don't appear to be any sources that would produce a good article under this name. savidan(talk) (e@) 20:59, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- There's nothing else other than the only word or definition at Wiktionary. Dumbass was nominated for deletion last year (see here). It has been deleted many times for recreation, including redirects. It is a compound word of dumb and ass. Dumbass can only be found at Wiktionary. There's no article here for this that exists. [edit] Lebedev
I was looking through the Mikhail Lebedev page and it seems to be vanity and non-notable to me. First of all, there is hardly any information about him on Google. Then, none of the publications seem to be news-worthy and notable. Finally, the scientist does not have many 1st author publications and seems to be non-important in his field. If you agree with me, can you please help me nominate Mikhail Lebedev for deletion? --GoOdCoNtEnT 08:44, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Wow! That's fantastic thank you so so much! If you ever need anything please yell out, and thanks again! Glen S 09:28, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- Ah good question. Basically, cut a long story short, there was an error in the database when doing the name change that meant my contributions moved over, but my new username was actually not created. As such my sysop privs were retained by my GIen account. Then, make matters worse some smart ass saw my name change application and registered Glen S! That wasn't a problem as the 'crat just named changed them to You've been Pwned2 (or similar) but I needed a developer to fix the database problem and merge the two names. As it happens all the devs were away on vacation (just my luck lol) however finally one merged the two accounts (all their contribs, logs and my sysop edits - deletes and such that dont show in contribs) and fixed the error. Phew! :) - Glen 09:49, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
