Request a coach :: Coach status
Quicklinks (edit) |

|
Thank you for your interest in Wikipedia's admin coaching program. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long! We're in the process of re-organizing at the moment and are starting a new system of requests.
Contents |
[edit] Coaching page management
New requests | Are added to the current request list in date order, newest at the end. Coaches will contact people at or near the top of the list, with preference being given to people who meeting the guidelines below. |
Requests which seem inactive | Either no match has been agreed despite several weeks of being posted, or because they are withdrawn by the requester, or non-responsive or withdrawn, and where there is no sign of ongoing activity or interest, are moved periodically to the "older requests" section. This may be done once or twice a month by any editor. |
Requests which are successfully matched | Should be moved to the status. When the coaching effectively ends, please update that page to move the coachee from the Current student to Former student column. A coachee who does not edit for thirty (30) days without informing his coach of a longterm WP:Wikibreak, will be considered retired and moved to the Former student column. This is necessary given the limited number of coachee spots available and the desire to provide as much coaching contact to active users as is reasonably possible. |
[edit] Coaches: Responding to a request
If you wish, you may contact a user at or near the top of the list. Leave a message under that person's name here, indicating you have contacted that person. If coaching commences, move that name to "matched requests" and append the details and current date, then update your status.
In general, to help others, please note if you contact a requester (by appending "Contacted - ~~~~ to the line, for example). If there is no response after some time, then note this too, and consider whether the request looks ongoing, or whether to move it to older/inactive requests.
If a requester is missing something off the basic checklist (for example, no edit summaries, or 95% of edits are of one type), then let them know on their talk page, mark the request as responded to with a note as to the comment, and move it to inactive requests for the time being.
[edit] Coaching requests
[edit] Current requests
New requests should be entered in the following syntax to the bottom of the Current list:
|- |{{UserVP|USERNAME}} |DATE OF REGISTRATION |DATE OF LAST VISIT TO PAGE |OPTIONAL COMMENT HERE |EDITCOUNT AND DATE OF FIRST EDIT |
Requests older than around 6 weeks without indication of current interest may be moved to "older requests" by any editor. If you are still interested, please append to your request a note that the request is still active and the current date, and move it back to this section in date order.
Please read the basic checklist (above) first, and then if you'd benefit from coaching, add new requests to the end of this section. Older requests - we need to know if you are still interested. If you are update the "date page last visited" box
If someone has proposed a pairing, they will add " (match pending) " in the admin notes box while it is being confirmed.

Meldshal42 (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 28 April 2008 | 28 April 2008 | I have always wanted to be an admin, but I think that learning from an experienced one will help me be ready for the job faster. I deal with Special:Newpages, Help articles by clicking "Random article" on the toolbar, Welcome users, Help out anyone who comes to me, and I am a frequent editor to articles under the scope of WikiProject Volcanoes, WikiProject Solar System, and various others. I co-founded WikiProject Swimming as well. I don't think I am anywhere near adminship, but some help would be great. | 2102 edits, First edit 09 March 2007

Styrofoam1994 (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 9 Mar 2008 | 31 Mar 2008 | I've been active for about 2 years with over 4000 edits, on various topics. I feel that this could be the time for trying out new things and expand my Wikipedian knowledge and abilities, especially on policies and copyright stuff. I hope to become an administrator sometime after some time passes (because of some mishaps over early 2008). I want to be able to create and contribute significantly to good articles and maybe a featured article(s). | 5,081 edits according to Special:Preferences

Vox Humana 8' (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 9 Mar 2008 | 9 Mar 2008 | I am interested in becoming an admin eventually. I have already had some guidance from an admin through MSN Messenger, but would like proper coaching. I have been using both this account and User:Voxpuppet (the latter in a parallel second browser, as Firefox doesn't like Twinkle) to fight vandalism using the Recent Changes log and Twinkle with all add-ons and have been contributing slowly but surely. However, the Wikipedia Community is unlikely to have much faith in me, as I have in the past made myself a pain in the proverbial for some of them: I would like to put all that behind me and make myself an invaluable contributor in my own right. Other info will follow later today --Vox Humana 8' 21:31, 9 March 2008 (UTC) | 3147 edits from currently active accounts;

Sjones23 (talk • contribs • count • block log) | August 8, 2007 | 15 March 2008 | I want to become an administrator because I want to help out in protecting pages from vandalism, deleting articles per WP:AFD and blocking users who add vandalism. I would like to know more about how the administration project works. I had an editor review by User:Moonriddengirl and have been adopted by User:Darthgriz98. I also revert vandalism and give them warnings and I have the rollback feature as well. My request is still active. | 14,180 edits

Torchwoodwho (talk • contribs • count • block log) | June 11th | April 5th, 2008 | I have experience in CSD, XFD, DRV, ANI, RFA, Help Desk, AFC Project, New Page Patrol, Recent Changes Patrol and various talk spaces. I am a Rollback user with Twinkle, Friendly, and VandalProof approval. I try to assist new users in cleaning poorly written articles which have been proposed for deletion and to date I have rescued several of these articles to a good start status. My interest in adminship is to better serve the community's vandalism projects, deletion debates and continue my work to educate new users about how to best participate in Wikipedia. | 2,636 (registered)first edit on June 11th, 2007 (registered) January 2007 (unregistered)
Dominik92 (talk • contribs • count • block log) | April 09 2008 | April 23 2008 | I would eventually like to become an admin, even though I enjoy contributing to articles, sometimes, obnoxious vandalism makes it difficult. If I'd ever get the tools I'd like to participate in many aspects of admin work; deletion, protection, blocks, closing AfD's, helping out users at WP:ANI etc. I'd like to get proper training and eventually apply at WP:RfA, in the past few months I've learned a lot about Wikipedia and I can confidently say that I would be a responsible admin even though I'd understand if I didn't get the tools. In the past I have contributed to main space (active member of WP:WikiProject Czech Republic), participated in AfD and SD tagging of pages and have also reviewed GAs and FAs.The Dominator (talk) 00:01, 10 April 2008 (UTC) | over 6000, May 14 2007 first edit, but only started actively contributing December 2007 | Match pending. |
GO-PCHS-NJROTC (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 2007-12-14T20:56:42 | 04/15/2008 | I'm interested in becoming an admin so I can block vandals and username violations as well as help with page protection. I'd like to have a coach to help drill me for adminship. | 1756 (first registered edit on December 15, 2007, first IP edit on October 17, 2007)
Cyclonenim (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 17th April 2008 | 17th April 2008 | I'm a comparatively new user as I've been registered since 2006, however, I only became truly 'active' in December 2007. Most of my work here at Wikipedia has been towards the WikiProject Medicine, although I’ve contributed to several other WikiProjects and unrelated articles. Other than article creation/editing/reviewing, my work consists of reverting vandalism using several tools, mostly Vandal Fighter and Twinkle (and as such has allowed me to gain experience of using rollbacks). | 4,005 edits,

Editorofthewiki (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 19th April 2008 | 19th April 2008 | I would like to become an admin so I could give users more of the benefit of the doubt. I believe that admins are very trigger happy to delete pages and block users. With my new found powers of undelete and unblock I would be able to help new users learn the basics. I know, I've been registered since January 2008 and I have a block in my block log, but I've also written an FA- Lazare Ponticelli- and a couple of DYKs. | 3,539 edits, First edit 01/03/08
Undead_warrior (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 21st April 2008 | 26th May 2008 | I've failed 2 RfAs and will try again in June. I do RC patrol, NP patrol, and music related changes. I also do a lot of work on AfD and IfD. | 8,233 edits, first edit 17:44, 27 March 2007 (edit count acording to Special:Preferences.) | Match pending. |
Atyndall (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 8 August 2006/Started seriously on 3rd January 2008 | 7 June 2008 | I have a very varied Wikipedia footprint, I am part of the Mediation Cabal, writing a bot, participating in AfDs, turned a stub into a good article, a vandal fighter with rollback and a member of WikiProject Computing, WikiProject Computer Science and WikiProject on closed proxies (I helped to setup a second proxy server), I host huggle for Gurch, I commit at least 1 hour a day on weekdays and 6-9 hours on a weekend. So far I have helped in blocked 40 vandals and stopped two copyvio attempts, written a good article and helped out the community in many different ways. I would like to become an administrator so that I can bypass things like the WP:AIV page and block vandals directly once they have received their last warnings, I would patrol the WP:AIV page, blocking vandals appropriately, I would also browse through the five day old XfDs, determining the consensus and acting appropriately (e.g. deleting the article etc.) and continue to write good quality articles and mediate disputes whenever I can, my goal is to write a featured article. To help myself improve as an editor I am also currently under editor review at Wikipedia:Editor_review/Atyndall | 3,003 First Edit: 12 April 2006 but didn't start editing seriously until this year. I have 16 edits before 2008. |

Smsarmad (talk • contribs • count • block log) | April 19, 2007 | May 6, 2008 | I have learned a lot about Wikipedia in the last four months but still need someone to guide me to learn more specially about adminship. | Edit Count:11653 /First Edit:April 19, 2007
Wildthing61476 (talk • contribs • count • block log) | May 2, 2008 | May 2, 2008 | I first self-nominated myself for adminship in May of 2007. I was declined at the time, and am looking at trying again in the near future. I focus mostly on recent change patrol and vandal editing, but spend a good deal of time reading WP:AN and WP:ANI to get a better idea of the various types of issues handled by the admins here. | Edit Count: 13,815 starting on 6/14/06 | Match pending. |
Fusionmix (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 03 April 2008 | 2 May 2008 | I joined Wikipedia almost two years ago, but really have only been active since November 2007. Since then, I've largely familiarized myself with terminology and policies. I do quite a bit of vandal-patrolling, though lately I've tried to focus more on mainspace contributing (media-related), project work (like the WP:MILHIST T&A drive), and communicating with other editors (something I've always considered myself weak in). I'd like to get more experience in the ways of CSD and AFD, however, as I often hesitate in those areas due to fear of mistakes. Though adminship would be something I'd be willing to consider sometime in the far future, I currently would like admin coaching more to gain general experience in dealing with difficult situations. | 5000+ edits as of this post, first edit was on 30 July 2006.
Tnxman307 (talk • contribs • count • block log) | May 6th, 2008 | June 11th, 2008 | I have recently become more involved in Wikipedia and would like to help out more by becoming an admin. I like to focus on recent changes, whether that involves simply reloading the recent changes pages or looking at the new pages creation log. I have also become more involved in AfD's and hope to improve/ rescue several articles. Also, I have started to help wherever I can at the help desk and new contributor's help page. I would like an admin coach to point me to areas I may have overlooked. | 5,845/ First edit - November 19, 2007
Unisouth (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 13th May 2008 | 13th May 2008 | I have been editing Wikipedia for over two years and during that time I have also been known as Lenny and The Southerner. My favourite contribution is WikiProject London Transport which has now gained over 60 members. I am persistant but understanding. | 7739, 30th January 2006 | Match pending. |
staffwaterboy (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 13th Of May 2008 | 13th Of May 2008 | I have always wanted to become a admin/sysop on wikipedia it is my goal to do so one day i would think that it would be more helpful to learn how to do so in receiving help from someone who has experience and who has gone thought the process | 5087, August 2,2006
Qaddosh (talk • contribs • count • block log) | May 14, 2008 | May 14, 2008 | I have recently noticed a bit of backlogging sometimes at WP:AIV and CAT:CSD and others like it. I have been editing on Wikipedia for over 3 years. I was content with being a confirmed user, but I have recently seen a need for adminship as I will be able to do more at Wikipedia. I also know that I would expand into other areas of adminship as a natural process of my curiosity. I seek some assistance in knowledge of adminship in general as well as WP:RFA. | 2,145, January 18th, 2005
Startstop123 (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 15th May 2008 | 13th June 2008 | I have been contributing to article content etc., but recently discovered how to revert vandalism. I feel that gaining adminship would enable me to complete that task more efficiently while still being able to actively contribute to and edit article content. Although I have a firm grasp on Wikipedia guidelines, etc., I would like to have an admin coach that could provide me with further Wikipedia guidance and information so I am up to the task of being an admin. | 2,167, 4th April 2008
Richard0612 (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 16 May 2008 | 16 May 2008 | My first RfA failed due to lack of experience. I have built up some of said experience, but would like to continue doing so under the guidance of an experienced admin. I intend to continue to lend a hand at WP:ACC and WP:CHU/U but in an administrative capacity. I am already actively involved in deletion [XfD mainly] and intend to help with administrative tasks there. I monitor AN/ANI already and comment where I can. | 4652, 26th December 2005
Basketball110 (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 01:52, 17 May 2008 (UTC) | 01:52, 17 May 2008 (UTC) | I've had an RfA, was told to wait (I believe) a year by User:Rudget, so please don't consider me anywhere near the top of the priority list. I'm not going to list my entire persona to everyone here. | about 11,500 edits or so, first on November 7, 2007
Treelo (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 17 May 2008 | 7 June 2008 | Never came intending to be an admin but as time goes on you get a feel for how adminship works and how it'd benefit you. Perks are perks but being an admin surely means being a great editor in general. Currently getting out and about with affairs in WP:ANI, WP:RFPP, WP:AIV along with the various deletion requests and failing my first and only self-submitted RfA (never again!) making the need for a spot of admin coaching just that little more helpful in my weak spots. | Roughly 10,000 (mainly bot-esque edits, little more than 3,000 in real terms), 14th November 2005
Xp54321 (talk • contribs • count • block log) | May 20, 2008 | June 6, 2008 | Adminship is something I consider to be a very high personal goal other than improving Wikipedia. I see so much I could do as an admin. Admins however should be knowledgeable about Wikipedia which is why I am requesting a coach to help me learn and sometime in the future help me become an admin. | 4,130, 4th March 2008
Police,Mad,Jack (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 8th August 2007 | 27 May 2008 | I have aspired to be an admin from day one, and only a few minutes ago was I considering putting myself in for a request but I thought this programme would stand me in good stead beforehand. I would like an experianced editor to take me under their wing if you like and I have already asked somebody if they would be so kind. Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs)☺ 11:40, 27 May 2008 (UTC) | 3,780 as of 27th May 2008, earliest to an actual article was 8th of August 2007.

Legoktm (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 16 March 2007 | June 9, 2008 | I would like to be an admin to help out wikipedia, and let editors focus on writing, instead of fighting vandals. | 3356, first edit made at 22:53, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Limetolime (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 14:33, 13 June 2008 (UTC) | 14:33, 13 June 2008 (UTC) | Failed twice, due to WP:SNOW. | 6,162 edits, started in January 2006.
Dank55 (talk • contribs • count • block log) | 14:48, 13 June 2008 (UTC) | 14:48, 13 June 2008 (UTC) | I watchlist/watchdog style guidelines pages, the articles that I have reviewed, and articles related to those articles. It would help my effectiveness and help define my role as a copyeditor and dispute mediator if I had an WP:RFPP button. See for instance Talk:Cold fusion. | Over 5000 edits, first edit 7 Dec 2007. |
[edit] Matched requests
Matched requests should be entered directly to the Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Status page by either the coachee or coach when first contact is established.
