[edit] Welcome

Hello Admiralakbar, welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tips:

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance. If you ever get bored, or don't know how to help, visit the ToDo List at Community Portal. There are millions of jobs to be done, article to be improved, written, deleted, images added or edited, and groups/clubs to join!

If you have any questions, or just want a chat, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing. —Vanderdeckenξφ 09:55, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Higher resolution version of Image:Hotel 2.jpg

Do you have a higher resolution version of Image:Hotel 2.jpg that you could upload over the current version? Most users have been commenting that it's too small to be an FP. Thanks! ~MDD4696 16:17, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Higher resolution hotel

Well, if you have a higher resolution photo, just upload it over the top of the old one! The small version is at Image:Hotel 2.jpg, so go there and click the 'Upload a new version of this file' button. Then add it (using the code ) to the articles you think need it. It's already in Muzaffarabad, but I suggest also adding it to 2005 Kashmir earthquake. Then you can re-nominate it to be a featured picture - resolution was one of the very few things that stopped it being successful last time. Good luck. —Vanderdeckenξφ 17:55, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] How to add an image

Yes, that's one of the reasons for thumbnails and image pages. You can have a small (say 200 pixels wide) image in the article, then click on that to go to a much bigger version on the image page. You can upload the image any size you want - the bigger, the better! It's often a good idea to have it the same size as the original version from the camera. Then, you upload it (to, for example, Image:Hotel 2.jpg) and place it into the article like this:

So for instance, gives this big picture on the right:
This is an image created by Admiralakbar.
This is an image created by Admiralakbar.
If I want a smaller version, I can change the width value. So, say I want it to be 100 pixels wide, on the left side of the page, and with the description "Froog!", I can type this:

Which gives this:
Froog!
Froog!
Now have a go with uploading that image and adding it to some articles! —Vanderdeckenξφ 14:44, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] More images

Good idea! Keep going with those images, they can add a lot to the right articles, especially if you have any images which would suit articles with no images in them currently. —Vanderdeckenξφ 14:55, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
