The cost of the building was 54 billion lei which, at the official 1985 exchange rate of the BNR, corresponds to US$ 3 billion.

The twin towers of World Trade Center likely costed much less than $3 billion. I suspect the real figure would be around $3 million, but unless we find a good source, I'd keep it out. bogdan (talk) 00:43, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

$3 billion is around $5 billion in today's money. For comparison, the 540m high Freedom Tower (currently under construction) costs $3 billion and it has many times its floor area. bogdan (talk) 00:51, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
