Administrative divisions of Cameroon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cameroon is divided into a number of administrative divisions. These are known by two terms, one English and one French. Both terms are considered official. The divisions are as follows:
- 10 provinces (provinces) under the authority of a governor (gouverneur);
- 58 divisions (départements) administered by a senior divisional officer (préfet);
- 269 sub-divisions (arrondissements) administered by a junior divisional officer (sous-préfet);
- 53 districts administered by a district head (chef de district).
