Thank you notes
Thank you Bhaia
Bhaia, its really nice to see your concentration on this article. All of your comments specially at some cases where you mentioned some presentation/writing style, I liked a lot. Currently I am little bit busy with my PhD application and admission process. Hopefully from the 1st of April (opss! not making you fool, kidding!) I will again start working on that article. Thank you for invitation. I will be working as soon as my net line is ok. Thanks again.

I do know how to sign with the four tildes. There was nothing "manual" in my signature. I only edited what I had written earlier leaving my signature as it was, and that's how my signature may have seemed "manual" to you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Minist3r (talk • contribs) 16:30, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the Barnstar. Pease take a look at Deshipidian 2008 page. Considering how nicely you've formatted your user page, this page can gain a lot from a little touch of yours. Arman (Talk) 04:17, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

- What about my proposal to join the Project on Bangladesh? How do I do that?
- Just go ahead and add your name to Wikipedia:WikiProject Bangladesh.
- And, how can I ask for help to create that infobox of "Dhaka Thana
- You can take a look at Template:Infobox City, and copy it/modify it to suite the thana articles.

Dear Aditya,
Sorry I didn't respond earlier. I seem to be running around WP putting out fires, and not getting much of anything useful done. I'm pressed for time at this time of year (I still have several feet of beading to do on a dupatta I'm giving to my daughter!) but I'll see what I can do. Zora 01:52, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm on a wikibreak :). I'll address the issues with the school and university articles when I get back. BTW, we had a wiki-adda in Dhaka recently, and I took a lot of photos of Old Dhaka. Thanks. --Ragib 06:31, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi Aditya. Thanks for all of these! I wasn't able to find any of the three images that you said were also on Commons. If they're there under different filenames, please list them for speedy deletion on Commons. I'm not an administrator there, but I can help you with the listing if you need it. I keep forgetting to tell you, but nice work with the universities, and Shahbag.
It's a pity I couldn't get in touch with you when I was in BD during December-January. Anyway, hopefully, I'd get in touch with you the next time I visit there. In the mean time keep up your good work.
Thanks. --Ragib 09:07, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for ur message. Sure, I will work on that topic(private university). Besides, I have some plan to work on some other area like Debating, Programming Contest etc where I spent my whole university life. I hope, I can make some constructive contribution here. Besides, Would you please help me in doing Bangla writing at bangla wiki? I am bit confused about those stuffs. It will be a great help for me if you do so. (Niaz bd 16:23, 16 February 2007 (UTC))
Seminar
So, how was the blog seminar? Did anyone from Bangla wiki show up? --Ragib 05:34, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- Just replied to your question by email.
- Too bad someone from Bangla wiki didn't turn up. I hope the blog will get a lot of news coverage. Our Bangla wiki project needs organisational backing like the blog, though we have several very dedicated volunteers. When you get bangla unicode set up in your machine, please do venture into Bangla wiki too. --Ragib 20:34, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
The new user page with the back story is interesting. Only if we could get more people like you from BD!! And only if I could get you interested in Bangla wikipedia ;).
We are planning a CD version of Bangla wikipedia, to be created and distributed by the end of this year. It will have more than 2000 articles in Bangla. --Ragib 09:55, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Typing Bangla
Does the following work?
- Go to control panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Language, and check the "Install files for complex scripts and right-to-left languages" option. You will need your Windows XP SP2 installer CD to install these new files.
- Install Bangla support on your browsers:
- On Internet Explorer 6: Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Languages, and add Bengali as a language.
- On Firefox 1.5: Go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> Edit Languages..., and add Bengali as a language.
- Go to your browser's "view" menu and set the "character encoding" or "encoding" feature to: Unicode (UTF-8).
- If you want to change to a favorite Bangla Unicode font for your webpages:
- For Internet Explorer 6: Go to Tools-->Internet options-->Fonts, choose Bengali from the Language Script pulldown menu and select from one of the available Bangla fonts in your system.
- For Firefox 1.5: Go to Tools -> Options -> Content tab -> Advanced... in the Fonts and colors section. In the pop up window titled "Fonts", select Bengali from the "Fonts for:" pulldown Menu and set a Bengali font of your choice for various kinds of fields like Serif, Sans Serif, Monospace, etc. to be shown on webpages.
- For Opera 9: Go to Tools -> Prefereces -> Advanced tab -> Fonts>International fonts>choose bangla from drop down list. Select Bangla font of your choice. In most of the cases, opera automatically detects your support for unicode onece you have it in operating systems and installed fonts. So, you may not require the steps above.

Re: Category: Bangladeshi laws
Statutory law refers to written/codified laws, chiefly those passed by a legislature, as opposed to case law or common law. It has nothing to do with the British Crown, although of course in civil law systems case law and common law don't really apply. -choster 11:04, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
About Paharpur and Mahasthanghar
Hello Bhaia, One of my hobbies is to visit monuments/historical places and related museums and collect documents. During 1998-99 I lived in Rajshahi when I visited all the historical places along with the museums and collected some resourceful documents. During that period I visited Paharpur and Mahasthanghar several time and collected lots of myths, stories and real facts. I also purchased an expensive 'photo album' that contains all the important 'Borendro' pictures though copyrighted by Bangladesh Government. I believe, I can help you in those fields. If you need any assistance from me, just feel free to ask. Regards, (Niaz bd 04:56, 12 March 2007 (UTC))
- Did you take any photos as well? We can't use the copyrighted photos, but if you took some yourself, or know someone who took them, it will be a great help. Thanks. --Ragib 05:36, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

- I just had a look at the article. It is really in very bad shape. The main problem is that it is virtually unreferenced. All the references are bunched together. This sort of an article cannot stand unless it has in-line references. A lot of POV is inbuilt into the article. People who worked earlier wrote in a newspaper style trying to analyse and fix the blame. Therefore, the first thing to do about it is to put the in-line references in place. Certain parts which cannot be referenced properly should be deleted. That is a task that I cannot do, because I am not that knowledgeable about the subject. Therefore, I can poke my nose in at a later stage. My interface with a similar subject was in Literacy in India. With regards. -- P.K.Niyogi 01:03, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I am still not totally sure about your points on Rajshahi University. The incidents you mention through the two links you provided on the talk page are there in the "criticism and controversy" section (which, by the way, is probably larger than any such section on any university on wikipedia), maybe using different references. Is the concern about the 1908s violence? There are allusions to it in the article, though I couldn't find references. In any case, once I understand which things specifically you would like to see included, I can try to work on them. Thanks for your support and comments--ppm 17:50, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Education in Bangladesh
Hello, thanks for your message. I have a lot on my Wikipedia-to-do list at them moment, but I did take a quick look at the article. It is certainly a helpful article already, even though of course there is work to be done. I made a few small changes to the article. I also imbedded a couple of questions/comments into the first part of the article using hidden text that you can see if you go into edit mode. I will try to help a bit more as I have time. Thanks and other
Thanks for you incisive comments and help throughout for Rajshahi Univ. I'll be taking a short wikibreak, so won't directly help on Education and Shahbag, but maybe later. However, one thing you can do is put 1 or both them up for a peer review. That might bring in more editors and I'll be able to contribute since reviewing is always easier than editing :D--ppm 16:22, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Grameen Bank
You were probably looking for The good article collaboration. I would support a nomination. Just having it listed there will get the article some more attention. And you are right, it is probably easy to improve the article by information from their site. --DorisHノート 18:04, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- I just had a look at Zora's page and contributions - don't worry, once the wikipedoholism kicks in, she might well be back. It's a good idea to take a break when she's exhausted. The collaboration: we'll have to see what the others say, they have tried to maintain it for so long and might not want to change the concept so quickly. We'll see. When I get around to actually researching and writing, instead of reverting vandals and doing maintenance work, I'll try to work on Grameen Bank myself, it's an interesting topic. --DorisHノート 16:09, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

What the court mentioned seems to be the role of Major Mohiuddin, that he engaged in a politically motivated coup. I'm not sure how significant it is, given that we have more to the point cases (the Bongobondhu Hotta mamla).
It's a great idea to go to those colleges and museums. If you can, please take a Digital camera ... we can always use more photos of anything from Dhaka. UGC page needs a photo of the building ... try to get that.

Regarding East West University Sources
Bhaia, thanks a lot for your constant support at East West University page. I do agree about the lack of proper sources. Actually I took the tag that you added positively and started to find some secondary sources and I found some sources also. Some are newspapers hard copy and some are online links from Daily Star. I will update them soon.
I really feel honored to know that this article is moving towards GA nomination. But, my personal feeling is, still way to go :-) . Still I need at least 3 months time to organize this article. I will reorganize different sections, add proper sources and change some of the pictures and then I may say that it is now ready for GA nomination. I will be extremely happy if I get your help and support during this journey. Take care.

DRv
Discussion at User talk:Golbez#How to?.
DRV is for a dispute about any deletion debate, whether it came out pro or against. Renominating these articles three days after the AFD failed is right out. --Golbez 12:46, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- The point is, they shouldn't have been nominated in the first place; the error is yours, not the closing admin, so come to think of it, I don't really think DRV is the proper place. Perhaps you want to contact the original closing admin. If you still want to go with publicly challenging the close of the AFD, just go to DRV and instead of linking a deleted article, link just one of these AFD discussions, mention that it contains a list, etc. --Golbez 04:53, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- Again - just make a DRV, but instead of linking to the deleted article link to the AFD or whatever, don't make a list, just mention that the list is located in the AFD. I'm not an expert on DRV, perhaps what you should do is ask on DRV's talk page. --Golbez 07:51, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I do agree. There is no point to keep two different page for a single project. We should delete the previous one.
I do apologize for not being an active participant at this group. History and Economics are always my filed of interest and I love to work on them. From now on, I will try my level best to contribute at this group. I have a rare collection of historical books at my personal library that I collected from different "Barendra" museums of Rajshahi. Template:Universities navbox a slight problem
It is fairly standard to have centre aligned text in a navigational template like this whatever the topic as they are mostly based on a standard template (which this uses). The use of the dot has also become common as the use of a pipe breaks the master template. To help, you could use Template:! to generate a pipe or you could try splitting the list into two or more (such as North and South) to break it up a bit? mattbr 22:17, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- Longer lists are always harder to navigate than smaller ones whatever the list/topic, so you could try to split it up. As I mentioned previously, you could try North/South, or any other suitable groupings. You could also shorten the names, as the template is for universities in Bangladesh, you don't necessarily have to mention those parts of the name. So for example American International University - Bangladesh could become American International, United International University could become United International and Northern University, Bangladesh could become Northern. Some this wouldn't really be appropriate for, such as International University of Business Agriculture and Technology, but this could significantly cut the amount of text in the list and make it easier to navigate.
- Of course you don't have to use the standard templates, but they just help to create a more uniform appearance in the boxes across the project. mattbr 10:18, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your compliments
Thanks for your compliments of my work on the portal page and the image on Jamuna Setu.
The image particularly is not as encyclopedic as you described - the main object, the bridge, is not clearly visible and part of my speedboat can be seen on lower right corner of the image. That's why I didn't even bother nominating it for Featured Picture. But perhaps it is good enough for Portal:Bangladesh page.
It's nice working with you.-Arman Aziz 10:06, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
Encyclopedic Picture
First of all, thanks a lot for the barnstar. It was my first one, so it really means a lot! You may submit the image for FP, but I am quite frustrated with myself for going all the way there and not being able to take a fully clean shot. Earlier I tried to feature another photo of mine (Image:Ruins of Saint Pauls.jpg). The result was - I was rejected with a lot of good advice on how not to ruin good photo taking opportunities. So, I'm reluctant to go there again, unless I am confident to be able to defend rude comments from people.-Arman Aziz 00:32, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

BD Portal Header ?!?
Hi Aditya - did you put two extra paragrph breaks after the header for any reason or by mistake? Arman Aziz 04:04, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- O, I see what you tried to do. The breaks were actually flowing to the main portal pages. I have now moved them to "noinclude" section. By the way, I am not sure whether the title color change actually improved the look of the portal. But sense of aesthetics may vary from one person to another. I have posted a comment request on portal talk page. Let's be guided by majority. Arman Aziz 04:21, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- If you also feel that the color in the title is a bit odd looking, I request you revert it - so that it doesn't appear I'm trying to force my opinion. Just to add: if you take example of some other featured portals on countries like India, Australia or Germany - none of them have used flag color in the title. Probably its better to leave the title in one color. I have no more concerns about the breaks. (and you are welcome!) Arman Aziz 07:39, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
I don't get this. Why are you moving the breaks out of the no include section again? Can't you see it is abnormally distorting the portal pages? Arman Aziz 09:46, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
The color of the selected tab (in our case white) and the border of the tab section (in our case red-line) are expected to flow continuously into the intro section. That's also how other portals (e.g. Portal:Australia) are doing it. If you are only trying to get some more space, then the break should be added in the Intro section - not to the header section. Please let me know what your concerns are and let me try to fix it. Arman Aziz 10:02, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Please don't get me wrong - ofcourse I welcome your views. I have added extra breaks into the intro section so that it doesn't look crammed any more, but at the same time continuity of the background color and border is maintained. I hope this addresses your concern now. Arman Aziz 10:36, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your understanding. Do support the featured portal drive when you think it is appropriate. One small info - It is not entirely one person show - Tarif Ezaz is helping me in the background (although he has not got directly involved in coding). Arman Aziz 01:18, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
-
- Serious talk about the header: First of all, are you using FireFox? I am using IE and to me BD Portal header looks as good as (or probably even better) than that of Australia Portal. But User:B has mentioned in the featured portal discussion that under FireFox it looks different, and from what you are saying it seems you also see something different.
- Since I cannot see the problem, It is difficult for me to solve it. Could you please do some experimentation on a sandbox and try to fix the problem? But it must look good (and preferably same) under both IE and FireFox.
- If you are also using IE, then appreciate if you could share a screenshot. The way I see it is same as the "IE Good" shown here.
Arman Aziz 05:23, 12 August 2007 (UTC) - By the way, thanks for the second barnstar. I believe by definition WP:BANGLADESH maintains WP:BD. But if you feel a formal workgroup would help to ensure continuity of maintenance of the portal, would you please start one? You have done history workgroup before- so you know what all needs to be done better than I do. Arman Aziz 05:32, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
- I think I have finally fixed the problems you were talking about. Sorry for my previous arrogance as I was not aware that the headers looked awkward in some browsers. Please take a look and let me know whether the portal header looks o.k. to you now. Arman Aziz 07:15, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
re:PAF images
Hi Aditya! I went back and added minor info to my own pictures, whatever I thought would help. I also added sources to PD pictures I've added recently. I also uploaded 2 fair use images for the PAF article recently here and here. I believe the fair use rationale for these pictures is sufficient, but if you feel something is lacking or the rationale could be improved overall, do go ahead and advise me. Zaindy87 21:25, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Also, I would appreciate it if you could give your opinion on this issue. Zaindy87 21:31, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Template:WikiProject Bangladesh/back to main page
Ok, I made it a little smaller. Ask away if you want other changes to be done to it... And sorry about not getting back to you on Wikipedia:WikiProject Bangladesh/History Workgroup/Announcements, I wasn't quite sure what to do with it and then forgot it. I'll try to look. --KFP (talk | contribs) 18:20, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, I think Gracenotes has fixed it now. --KFP (talk | contribs) 22:22, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

No, Munnabhai was developed by Classicfilms. I helped with the part "Production", then got hooked and helped in other necessary aspects like formatiing the citations, re-structuring etc. Well, I wastalking to Ragib a few days back. He is having great time :) Went to Grand Canyon while returning from California. Unfortunately, I am also pretty busy these days, and unable to give much time here.--Dwaipayan (talk) 14:22, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
How are you
Hi, Aditya bhai, what's up (nothing is up, everything is down, one of my friends used to answer like this)? Anyway, I've got Broadband connection!! I tried to tell you this with a good news and here it is. My next target is to work on your demands. So you could see some changes very soon. You are doing really great at Biman Bangladesh Airlines, keep it up, and ask me if you need anything on that. May be Trusilver could also help you. Hopefully you could have your flight very soon. Yours truly --Tarif from Bangladesh 14:25, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- Which connection do you use. I am using BracNet and it is giving me great service. Speed is very good and there's no cut down. May be you can try this too. Yes, I may still need cell phones anyway (but not so far). Thanks for your information about Torun Sharkar. If he continues, I'll too. May that would help me to chip in with a few more DYK's as well. Thanks again for congratulating me, Dwaipayan da really helped a lot as well. Keep up your great work (from Ragib bhai :) --Tarif from Bangladesh 17:41, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Niaz_bd became Niaz
This is a common message from Niaz
Fellow Wikipedians,
This is to notify you that recently I have changed my username (through userpatation) to an appropriate one and from now you'll recognize me as Niaz instead of Niaz_bd.
Kind regards,

Hey, I have used closing tags whenever I format text written by me. If there was some error, it must have been a mistake. Please try to mention of the page where I didn't used tags properly. Apologies if you were troubled.

Just another magic
I was reading my archive (!) of unread mails of yahoo! and saw your message about publishing my "Epic Journey" story to wikiproject bangladesh :) I somehow missed it, but you can still do it if you want, if it inspires others. Ya, i like to work on North Bengal, please give me any reference book name or others if you want, I'm currently working on war crimes as you know and mukti juddho in general. will start editing very soon. bn.wiki is ok, we're probably not organizing any unconference this time :( but work rate is good
Regards Tarif --Tarif from Bangladesh (talk) 19:33, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
- haven't started any editing yet, just gathering info. Tell you and others when I do start. 2008 will be a year for me of this project. --Tarif from Bangladesh (talk) 16:04, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

- I was reading the 1971 Bangladesh atrocities and surprisingly didn't find any information or comments about Soviet Union. Can you find some? Please let me know. Let me know any specific guidelines if you want as well. Regards --Tarif from Bangladesh (talk) 22:03, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
WP Bangladesh template
Hello Aditya, and happy new year! I'm afraid I don't know how to fix that. I tried something but didn't get it right. I can look for someone else to help, though. Cheers, --KFP (talk | contribs) 17:54, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Template:Non-extant Bengal places
I have not been happy with the heading. Now that you have pointed out, I have changed it but I am not sure if it is okay even now. Some of the places do exist but with a separate identity. These are dead places, sometimes archaeological excavations only. I made the template to link them together. If you have some idea, please come up with it. Picture
Thank you so much for your acknowledgment on my photography. I really appreciate that. And thanks again for letting me know about the image caption. I'm very new to this place and no doubt i've got a long way to sail. I will always look for your advice and comments on my work on Wiki. Please feel free to inform me at any state you find necessary, or even if not! —Preceding unsigned comment added by SalmanHossain (talk • contribs) 05:48, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Namaskar!
Hello Aditya. Thanks for your nice note. I must admit I was just casually learning about the (very compelling) history of the foundation of Bangladesh and reflexively copy edited where the grammar looked funny. I do not in fact know very much more about Bangladesh except what I read last night (well, that and the fact that the world's most awesome river deltas is there, and maybe a few man-eating tigers roaming around in the woods). I try to stick more to ecology related articles, since people can be so touchy about history! I do have a question you might help me with: does "Sundarbans" mean "beautiful forest" in Bengali? I know "sundar" means beautiful in Hindi, but I assume that the name of the park is Bengali. By the way, a pleasant surprise to see Tsar Saltan on your page! It's an image straight from one of my children's books. Best, Eliezg (talk) 11:37, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

The Competition
Dear Aditya, we are now all set to move to the next phase of the competition that we discussed earlier on WikiProject Bangladesh Outreach page. For this purpose, I have started the Deshipidian 2008 page and have also drafted an email for mass circulation to promote the competition. Please review the page and the draft email and let me know if you have any comments. I'm proposing that we circulate the email widely starting February 1, 2008. In addition, if BDOSN can help promote this competition through some newspaper coverage that would be fantastic. Yours truly Arman (Talk) 09:19, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Cool!
Today, I visited your Homepage. To be very honest, it is a nice piece of creative work. And you gave a new dimension to the practical joke segment redirecting it to author's talk page which made me so damn confused! But, really nice work. Well, just a confession, I copied (stolen) many stuff from your page to create my userspace. I always get new idea from your pages. Keep creating and keep providing us ideas :-). Cheers. -- Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 13:48, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Gone AWOL
Hi Aditya bhai,
Just wanted to drop you a quick note with my sincere apologies for being "offline" for so long and not able to assist you with any of the articles (and expect to remain so for a while longer). Real life issues have taken priority and therefore WP has had to take a backseat (or rather been at a standstill!). I'm visiting Bangladesh shortly also for a couple of weeks and will try and take some photos for increasing the WP free image portfolio. Anyway, hope you're all keeping well and keep up the good work!

Page Tabs
You wrote me for help regarding how to set up page tabs. I have some suggestions. Look at the source for my user page as well as my user talk page and the archives of my user talk page. Also, see the actual Template:PageTabs for more information. I'll do a quick example for you using the items you have above (news, policy, techincal etc.) and if you examine the source of this comment on your page, I think it will give you some ideas. The tab sample below also appears at the top of your user page. Notice the only difference between this one and the one on your user page is the This=1 on that page and This=2 on this page, for determining which page tab is marked in white. (Once you figure it out, you can remove the one on your user page if you want.)
If you have additional questions, feel free to write me again. Paul Robinson (Rfc1394) (talk) 20:05, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
