Talk:Adidas sponsorships

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I think this page has no purpose in an encyclopedia. It is surely not complete, and it has essentially no references. To be encyclopedic, it needs to have a reference for every team and athlete listed, and a regular process of checking needs to be in place because the information is volatile; sponsorships come and go. Moreover, it is entirely unclear what value there is to a huge list like this. Tb (talk) 18:02, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

An editor remove the prod saying that "no reason was given" for it; that's clearly not true since I gave a reason right here. The argument that something "would probably" be notable is not quite on point, since I didn't address notability--though I do think that notability is in doubt. Tb (talk) 19:28, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Using your logic (rather lack thereof) Wikipedia needs to be trimmed down to the 10 or so articles that have no reference/verifiability issues, nor contain information that changes. If you were going about deleting this article, you probably should've actually put some thought into formulating an argument based on Wikipedia policy, rather than personal preference. If every article that needed work were put up for deletion, Wikipedia wouldn't exist. Tool2Die4 (talk) 19:44, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
My argument is exactly what it says: the article *could not be* complete, and *cannot be* adequately referenced. Moreover, it *has no value*. Those are perfectly cogent considerations. It would help if you might say, for example, how the article could be complete, how it could be adequately referenced, and what value the list has. Tb (talk) 19:53, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
