Adelaide Cup

The Adelaide Cup is a Group 2 thoroughbred horse race held in South Australia. It is handicap race run over 3200m (two miles) at Morphettville Racecourse in Adelaide Australia.
The cup is held on the second Monday of March since March 2006. Before 2006 it was held in May.
Effective from 2007 the race has been downgraded from Group 1 to Group 2 status due to a decision by the Australian Pattern Committee.

- From 1884 to 1944 the race was run over 13 furlongs (approximately 2600 metres).
- In 1980 and 2000 the race was run at Victoria Park.
