[edit] Background
Born in Tustin, California, Addison was raised throughout Orange County, California. Addison's father, Steve, founded Steve's Detailing in 1971[2], the first ever auto detailing business, which grew to become a nation-wide franchise with the world's largest detail shop operated out of Costa Mesa, California[3]. As a result of Steve's love for cars, Addison had a strong interest in automobiles from a young age[4].
[edit] Early life and career
At the age of 8, Addison's grandfather, who invented the first magnetic tape data storage system[5], built Addison a custom personal computer running Microsoft Windows 3.1[4]. Soon after upgrading to Microsoft Windows 95, Addison taught himself HTML and JavaScript using internet resources[4].
At the age of 11, Addison began to teach himself Macromedia Flash 1 and ActionScript[4].
At the age of 12, Addison's first job was designing Macromedia Flash videos for Shorty's Skateboards[1], who at the time was one of the world's biggest skateboarding companies[6].
At the age of 13, Addison's interest in computers and design led him to find an early version of Apple Final Cut Pro- one of the editing systems he has been cutting on since 1999[4].
At the age of 14, Addison created a Macromedia Flash website that caught the eye of Microsoft, and he was soon invited to spend a summer at their Redmond, Washington headquarters with a select number of other young kids from around the world, all working and sharing their knowledge with Microsoft[4][7].
At the age of 16, Addison edited a feature length documentary about a local Orange County, California based choral director[8].
[edit] iPhone Scandal
Around 8pm on June 28, 2007, Addison paid a number of young kids to line up overnight outside the Pasadena, California Apple Store to buy iPhones on their June 29, 2007 release date. By 11:00pm on June 29, 2007, Addison had resold 11 iPhones to prearranged people who wanted to avoid lines. Several phones sold in access of $900, in total making Addison enough profit to buy himself a free iPhone, as well as cash to break his existing wireless contract.[9]
[edit] Education
Addison attended high school Sage Hill School in Newport Coast, California, Orange County, California's top college preparatory school, where he was a part of the first four-year graduating class[10]. Immediately after graduating, Addison moved to Pasadena, California to attend Art Center College of Design where he would later graduate with Honors at the age of 21[1].
[edit] Editing
After graduating from Art Center College of Design in August 2007, Addison began working for HoneyShed[1] as an editor to director Brian Beletic of Smuggler[11]. HoneyShed is best described as MTV+QVC[12], and is owned by Smuggler[11] and Droga5[12]. As of May 2008, Addison has cut over 70 HoneyShed spots[1]. Alongside HoneyShed, Addison continues to work as a freelance editor[1].
