Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam is an album by the Norwegian black metal band Gorgoroth. It was released in 2006 on Regain Records[1], and was nominated for Norway's 2006 Spellemann award in the 'Metal' category.[2] This was the last Gorgoroth album to feature the line-up of Gaahl, Infernus and King.[3]

The title is Latin for "For The Greater Glory Of Satan". It is a parody of Ad maiorem Dei gloriam ("for the greater glory of God"), the motto of the Society of Jesus, conceived by Infernus after having read an article on the counter-reformation and the Jesuits.[4] This is so far the only Gorgoroth album not to have any titles and lyrics in Norwegian.

The artwork used is from the painting Dante and Virgil in Hell by William-Adolphe Bouguereau.

In November 2007, the album was re-released as a limited edition digipak. This edition had a slightly different cover, and included a bonus DVD with the uncensored music video of the song "Carving a Giant", as well as a "The Making of Carving a Giant" featurette.[5][6]
