Template talk:Actions

[edit] Purpose

{{actions}} places on the page a number of links that perform specific actions on a given page. These are identical to the links that appear (depending on one's chosen skin) in a sidebar, footer, or tabs. The difference is that the links supplied by the MediaWiki rendering engine automatically pertain to the current page -- thus, for example, if you were to now click the History link, you would discover the edit history of this page: Template talk:Actions.

This template provides a similar set of links for any arbitrary page.

Please note that not all users may have access to all actions.

[edit] Usage

{{actions|pagename|float}}

This being a maintenance tool, you should not use this template on any article mainspace page. Transclude or substitute it on your own User page, or perhaps a subpage or a workshop page. Transclusion is suggested due to the large amount of code generated; you will also enjoy any updates.

The first parameter is required: the name of the page for which actions are to be shown, including namespace.

The second parameter is optional: a float value (left or right). If no float is specified, the template will not float. Floating a number of various instances of this template allows one to pack more into less screen.

  • Note that as this template uses external link style, you must use underscores ("_") not spaces (" ") when specifying a target page.
