ActivityLens is a usability evaluation software that operates under the Windows operating system. It has been designed in order to meet educational needs. It addresses to all those who conduct usability studies and seek an appropriate mean in order to extract meaningful information from collected data. These data are video and audio files, log files, images and text files including hand-taken notes of the observers.

Usability analysts use ActivityLens in order to study any type of interesting activity that involves one or more subjects simultaneously and take place in a lab or in a field setting (including semi-public spaces such as: Museums, exhibition halls etc) It provides a broad range of features for observation and analysis (qualitative and quantitative) of collected data. It supports easy handling and navigation of multimedia sources, annotation of data, statistical analysis, filtering of collected data, visualization of annotated data, generation of descriptive reports etc.

ActivityLens has effectively been used for the analysis of the following types of activities:

• Activities that take place in a laboratory or field setting, during the usability evaluation of standalone computer systems.[1]

• Collaborative activities that are mediated through especially designed collaborative computer systems.[2]

• Activities that take place in the field concerning the usability evaluation of mobile applications and systems.[3]

ActivityLens has been designed and developed by HCI group of University of Patras.
